Wayne County Mini Maker Faire"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Hello everyone,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Wayne County Mini Maker Faire is a <strong>family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity and\nresourcefulness<\/strong> and a celebration of the Maker Movement. &nbsp;It\u2019s\na place where people show what they are making and share what they are\nlearning.&nbsp; Makers range from tech enthusiasts to crafters to homesteaders\nto scientists to garage tinkerers. They are of all ages and backgrounds. The\naim of Maker Faire is to <strong>entertain, inform, connect\nand grow this community.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Daily Record said it best: \u201cDubbed the \u2018Greatest Show and\nTell on Earth\u2019; over <strong>1,200 people<\/strong> flocked to the third annual faire at the University\nof Akron Wayne College last May. &nbsp;It was a fresh experience with <strong>favorite makers from last year<\/strong> coming back along\nwith <strong>new makers<\/strong> and new things to see\nand do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2019\/09\/DSC_0092-1024x678.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12091\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/makezine.jp\/event\/mft2019\/en\/\"><strong>Maker\nFaire Tokyo<\/strong><\/a>\nshowcases the amazing work of all kinds and ages of makers &#8211; anyone who is\nembracing the do-it-yourself (or do-it-together) spirit and wants to share\ntheir accomplishments with an appreciative audience. &nbsp;As commented by Dale\nDaugherty, founder of the \u201cmaker movement\u201d, \u201cMaker Faire Tokyo was, as always,\nspecial.&nbsp; The question I ask everyone there is why there is so much\noriginal, creative work in Tokyo, so many side projects done just for\nfun.&nbsp; The Faire had about 300 makers (somewhat smaller due to venue\nconstraints) but had about <strong>24,000 people<\/strong> over the weekend.\u201d&nbsp; Check-out the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=HuBOZNz6KYI\">below video<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dropbox.com\/sh\/09yqgg4yjarobb4\/AABWdRteOzSR42CfyOeetLKpa?dl=0\">series of video\nshorts<\/a>\nthat Dale created to share his experience with others. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"574\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2019\/09\/tokyo.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12095\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2019\/09\/tokyo.jpg 574w, https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2019\/09\/tokyo.jpg?resize=300,157 300w, https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2019\/09\/tokyo.jpg?resize=425,222 425w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 574px) 100vw, 574px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=HuBOZNz6KYI\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Want to learn more about featured <strong>Maker\nFaires in other countries<\/strong>?&nbsp; <a href=\"https:\/\/makerfaire.com\/featured-faires\/\">Click here<\/a>\nfor a full list of featured Maker Faires that are work traveling for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are <strong>proud to\nshowcase Ohio makers<\/strong> participating in the Wayne County Mini Maker Faire.&nbsp; Two of these people are <strong>Rolf and Linda Nelson.<\/strong>&nbsp; At the Maker Faire\nthis past May, Rolf displayed 3D printed Civil War toy soldiers with examples\nof 3D prints and information on how they were designed. &nbsp;Linda brought\nexamples of decoupaged ornaments made from a variety of base materials suitable\nfor various holidays with instructional handouts available. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2019\/09\/Promo-Picture-2019-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12099\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Rolf is a retired Tech Ed. teacher and military miniature\ncollector active in the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.schantzmakerspace.com\/\">Schantz\nMaker Space<\/a>.<\/strong> &nbsp;His wife is a retired university\naccountant and <strong>life-long crafter<\/strong> who\nspecializes in ornaments primarily for Christmas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another person who participated in the Wayne County Mini\nMaker Faire is Christina of <strong>Duck Tape Creations.<\/strong>&nbsp;\nWe all know of duck tape. &nbsp;We use it to fix everything, right? Nothing is more\nsatisfying to her than <strong>bringing ideas to life!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rounding out our participating makers are students from\nChippewa High School.&nbsp; The <strong>Chippewa Robotics\nteam<\/strong> brought a lot of cool technology to the faire, including <strong>LEGO &amp; Vex robots and drones.<\/strong>&nbsp; Faire\nattendees got to fly handheld drones with virtual reality headsets, drive\nwheeled robots around the packed Maker Faire hallways, and other fun\nactivities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2019\/09\/drone2-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12107\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2019\/09\/chipps-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12111\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Chippewa High School is a public high school in Doylestown,\nOhio. It is the only high school in the Chippewa Local Schools district.
