Maker Faire Wayne County"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Hello everyone,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Wayne County Mini\nMaker Faire is a <strong>family-friendly showcase of invention,\ncreativity and resourcefulness<\/strong> and a celebration of the Maker Movement. &nbsp;It\u2019s a place\nwhere people show what they are making and share what they are learning.&nbsp;\nMakers range from tech enthusiasts to crafters to homesteaders to scientists to\ngarage tinkerers. They are of all ages and backgrounds. The aim of Maker Faire\nis to <strong>entertain, inform, connect and grow this community.<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"383\" height=\"288\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2020\/02\/jason.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12423\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2020\/02\/jason.jpg 383w, https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2020\/02\/jason.jpg?resize=300,226 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 383px) 100vw, 383px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Daily Record said it\nbest: \u201cDubbed the \u2018Greatest Show and Tell on Earth\u2019; over <strong>1,200 people<\/strong> flocked to the third annual faire at\nthe University of Akron Wayne College last May. &nbsp;It was a fresh experience\nwith <strong>favorite makers from last year<\/strong> coming back along with new makers and\nnew things to see and do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On\nSeptember 27\u201329, Eindhoven Maker Faire brought together over 250 makers and\n15,000 attendees for the largest festival of its kind in the Netherlands.&nbsp;\nThe weekend was full of celebration, innovation, amusement, and\ndiscovery.&nbsp; <a href=\"https:\/\/makezine.com\/2019\/11\/08\/maker-faire-eindhoven\/\">Here are some of the\nhighlights<\/a>.&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"515\" height=\"287\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2020\/02\/horse.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12427\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2020\/02\/horse.jpg 515w, https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2020\/02\/horse.jpg?resize=300,167 300w, https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2020\/02\/horse.jpg?resize=425,237 425w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 515px) 100vw, 515px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Makers from across\nEurope came to show and tell.&nbsp; <a href=\"https:\/\/eindhoven.makerfaire.com\/ontmoet-de-makers\/\">A\ncomplete list can be found here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are <strong>proud to showcase\nOhio makers<\/strong> participating in the\nWayne County Mini Maker Faire.&nbsp; Some of these people are\n<strong>David and Mary Martin of <\/strong><a href=\"\/\/www.martinsminiaturemarketplace.com\/\"><strong>Martin\u2019s Miniature Marketplace<\/strong><\/a>.&nbsp; They produce and sell scale\nminiature furniture, structures, acrylic cases &amp; display stands, and\nvarious accessories that are made at a the Romich Foundation Makerspace in\nCreston.&nbsp; At the Maker Faire, they displayed the process for creating one\nof their products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"383\" height=\"287\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2020\/02\/miniature.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12431\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2020\/02\/miniature.jpg 383w, https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2020\/02\/miniature.jpg?resize=300,225 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 383px) 100vw, 383px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>David creates miniature\nprojects which combine acquired skills and knowledge of many sorts.&nbsp; He\nloves to create, whether it be <strong>sculpting,\npainting, or drawing<\/strong>; using the saw, drill\npress, sewing machine or computer; working with pencil, pen &amp; ink, paints, yarn,\nclay, acrylics, wood, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another person who\nparticipated in the Wayne County Mini Maker Faire is <strong>Josh Hosbach of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.villageplastics.com\/\">Keene Village\nPlastics<\/a><\/strong>.&nbsp; KVP is a\nmanufacturer of high quality thermoplastic <strong>3D printing\nfilament<\/strong>. The company offers an\nextensive product line and possesses manufacturing capabilities to extrude\ncustom sizes, shapes and profiles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2020\/02\/village2-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12435\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>KVP\u2019s is a family owned\nand operated business is a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility <strong>located in Norton, Ohio<\/strong>, with customized extrusion lines, in-house tooling, and\nmonitoring with <strong>laser micrometers for consistent quality<\/strong>.&nbsp; At the maker faire, they\nbrought a variety of 3D printers, beautiful and colorful 3D printed objects,\nand a wide selection of filaments that they make.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rounding out our\nparticipating makers is <strong>Stephen Andrews<\/strong>.&nbsp; Heprovides summer experiences for families\nthat want <strong>to try backyard chickens<\/strong> without the hassle or\ninvestment.&nbsp; In early spring, he will bring a portable coop and two or\nfour chickens to your home, sets up everything (including feed for the entire\nsummer), and provides a lesson on how to care for the chickens.&nbsp; In late\nFall, he picks up the coop and chickens so you don&#8217;t have to worry about them\nover the winter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2020\/02\/Rent-The-Chicken-Lodi-OH2-1024x732.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12439\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Steve is a multi-faceted\nentrepreneur who owned a printing company for 40 years, an organic farm for 12\nyears, and is also &#8220;The Toymaker&#8221; and woodworker.&nbsp; Steve&#8217;s\ncurrent projects include <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rentthechicken.com\/\">RentTheChicken.com<\/a> and he &amp; Cindy are <strong>turning their farm into an adventure playground<\/strong>.&nbsp; Always something exciting\ngoing on!&nbsp; At the Maker Faire, Steve brought a coop, chickens, an\nincubator, and enthusiasm and was quite the hit with kids and adults alike.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hello everyone, The Wayne County Mini Maker Faire is a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness and a celebration of the Maker Movement. &nbsp;It\u2019s a place where people show what they are making and share what they are learning.&nbsp; Makers range from tech enthusiasts to crafters to homesteaders to scientists to garage tinkerers.
