<\/figure>\n\n\n\nThe Daily Record said it best: \u201cDubbed the\n\u2018Greatest Show and Tell on Earth\u2019; over 1,200 people<\/strong> flocked to the third annual faire at the\nUniversity of Akron Wayne College last May. It was a fresh experience\nwith favorite makers from last year<\/strong> coming back along with new makers and new things to see and\ndo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 2019 was an incredible year for Maker Faires all over the world.<\/strong> Makezine asked\nthe local organizers of these fantastic events to share\ntheir favorite video coverage<\/a> and got some great videos from places like Vienna, Tokyo, Gent, Brussels, Seol, and Bay area.<\/strong>\nTake a little time and enjoy the sights and sounds of what makers are doing\naround the globe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Want to learn more about featured Maker Faires in our area?<\/strong> Click here<\/a> for a full list of featured Maker Faires that are worth\ntraveling for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We are proud to showcase\nOhio makers<\/strong> participating in the Wayne County Mini Maker Faire. One of these\npeople is Lewis Saunier.<\/strong> He is a retired carpenter and enjoys building things\nfrom recycled materials. At last year\u2019s faire, Lewis and his wife Dania\nbrought a pair of collapsible sawhorses built from downgrade lumber, a used set\nof by folding doors to make a tabletop, and 18″ stools built from\ndiscarded gymnasium bleacher seats. <\/p>\n\n\n\n During the 2016 faire, Lewis brought a motor-less pedal bike<\/strong> \/ go cart built\nfrom his own design. He connected with a number of people during its\nconstruction which is the heart of a true \u201cmaker\ncommunity<\/strong>\u201d. It was quite a hit at the Maker Faire,\nespecially with kids!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Another person who participated in the Wayne\nCounty Mini Maker Faire is Ben Westover<\/strong>. He loves all things technology, especially retro stuff.<\/strong> Ben is\nreally smart, especially in math (last year was in 9th grade math as a 7th\ngrader). Ben plays trumpet and baritone in band and enjoys science, math,\nand history. <\/p>\n\n\n\n At last year\u2019s faire, Ben\u2019s theme was about video\ngames and computers through the decades.<\/strong> He brought video games, consoles, and computers from\nthe 70\u2019s, 80\u2019s, 90\u2019s and 2000\u2019s. Altogether, Ben brought around 10\ndifferent consoles, and computers with two or three games or programs\nrunning on each. It\u2019s truly was a blast from the past!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Rounding out our participating makers is Kristin Lorson.<\/strong> She\nteaches acrylic painting<\/strong> as well\nas creating personalized commissioned art (for the past 28 years). Her art\ncomes in all sizes; on a greeting card or on a Bookmobile! All of her art\nis unique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n At this year\u2019s fair, Kristin\u2019s project will be\nabout \u201cThe Meaning of Colors\u201d and how color is\nused to evoke emotion in people.<\/strong> Which\ncolors excite? What colors calm you? She will have a fun painting\nproject for kids using simple coffee filters and shapes for eyes and mouths.\nThey will create a Mood Monster<\/strong> using colors\nthat express emotions.
