Maker Faire is happening soon!\u00a0 Mark your calendar for Saturday, May 21st from 11:00-2:00 for this unforgettable event.<\/strong>\u00a0 The event is free and open to the public.\u00a0 Your kids will love it, too!<\/p>\n The Daily Record said it best: \u201cDubbed the \u2018Greatest Show and Tell on Earth\u2019; over 1,200 people<\/strong> flocked to the 2019 faire at the University of Akron Wayne College. \u00a0It was a fresh experience with favorite makers from previous years<\/strong> along with new makers and new things to see and do.<\/p>\n For those wondering, what, exactly, is a maker faire, it is \u2018a gathering of fascinating, curious people who enjoy learning<\/strong> and who love sharing<\/strong> what they can do. From engineers to artists to scientists to crafters, Maker Faire is a venue for these \u2018makers\u2019 to show hobbies, experiments, projects,\u2019 according to its website.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Amazing Maker Awards<\/strong><\/p>\n Makers create amazing things and, like you, we want everyone to experience them. \u00a0This year, Make: introduced the Amazing Maker Awards<\/strong> to shine a light on the most inspiring projects in the makerverse.\u00a0 The Amazing Maker Awards<\/a> is a juried exhibition of projects by makers. Register now<\/strong> to enter your project or your team’s project to be eligible for the awards.\u00a0 Final submission of projects is due by June 1, 2022.\u00a0 The selected winners will appear in an online showcase and receive a “Makey” award.\u00a0 For more information, visit https:\/\/make.co\/amazing-maker-awards<\/a><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Upcoming Maker Faires<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Coming up in May:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Local Makers<\/strong><\/p>\n We are proud to showcase Ohio makers<\/strong> who are participating in Maker Faire Wayne County 2022! \u00a0Some of these are Johnny and Kendra Workman of Workmans Fiery Forge.<\/strong>\u00a0 Everything they make is hand forged including home decor, coat racks, bottle openers, knives, and door knockers. \u00a0He makes things out of railroad spikes, horseshoes, repurposed metal.\u00a0 At Maker Faire, Johnny will have a forging demonstration with a mobile forge!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Another person who will participate in Maker Faire Wayne County is Erin from Leif & Thorn.<\/strong>\u00a0 She makes creator-owned comics and related merchandise. \u00a0The two main titles are But I’m A Cat Person<\/strong> and Leif & Thorn,<\/strong> both fantasy adventure\/comedies for teens and up. \u00a0Erin has omnibus boxsets for BICP and paperback Volumes 1-4 for Leif & Thorn, plus pins of the mascot characters and prints of related art pieces.
