Maker Faire Rome 2022!<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Make: Magazine Senior Editor Caleb Kraft was live at Maker Faire Rome over the weekend, taking in the sights and sounds of Italy’s largest Maker Faire<\/strong> (10th<\/sup> year running!) \u00a0Click here<\/a> for a collection of all the fun projects and people he saw, including soccer robots<\/strong> from the Robocup International Competition!<\/p>\n

Local Makers<\/strong><\/p>\n

We are proud to showcase Ohio makers<\/strong> who participated in Maker Faire Wayne County 2022 this past May. \u00a0One of these is Tracy Hamilton of Hamilton Woodcrafting<\/a>.\u00a0 <\/strong>At Maker Faire Wayne County, Tracy showed multiple types of wooden cutting boards, charcuterie, cheese boards, bottle openers, and serving trays.\u00a0 He also brings some of these items to the 3D Lab to be personalized with the laser engraver, a handy tool for burning images and text onto his wood products.<\/p>\n

Tracy Hamilton grew up with a love for working with his hands and a passion for creating things from hardwoods.<\/strong> At the request of his grandmother, Tracy began to craft beautiful items from genuine hardwoods.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Another group who participated in Maker Faire Wayne County are the FIRST Robotics Team 2399: The Fighting Unicorns<\/a>.<\/strong>\u00a0 They are based out of Shaker Heights, Ohio. \u00a0Each year, the team works to create a robot <\/strong>to compete in the competition presented by FIRST<\/a>. \u00a0They created their robot this year that is capable of shooting cargo (oversized tennis balls) as well as climbing to monkey bar-like rungs.\u00a0 Their cargo shooting robot was quite a hit!\u00a0 The team was happy and eager to show their robot and how they made it to everyone passing by!<\/p>\n

This year’s game is Rapid React. \u00a0Under strict rules and limited time and resources, teams of high school students are challenged to build industrial-size robots<\/strong> to play a difficult field game in alliance with other teams, while also fundraising to meet their goals, designing a team \u201cbrand,\u201d and advancing respect and appreciation for STEM within the local community.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The mission of FIRST is to inspire young people<\/strong> to be science and technology leaders and innovators, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs<\/strong> that build science, engineering, and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Rounding out our makers who participated in Maker Faire Wayne County are members of Orrville Community Theater<\/a>,<\/strong> a non-profit organization helping to keep Live Theater Alive.\u00a0 They welcome anyone who has a love for theater<\/strong> – on stage, behind the scenes, or sponsoring a show!\u00a0 They regularly present shows in the Orrville area. \u00a0Murder Mysteries, Christmas Shows, Children\u2019s Workshops, Teen Workshops, and more!<\/p>\n

At Maker Faire last May, performers and members of Orrville Community Theatre gave entertaining skits<\/strong> on a small stage.\u00a0 Children also enjoying coloring paper masks<\/strong> that they took with them!\u00a0 We are proud to have such a talented and friendly group participate in maker faire.<\/p>\n
