Maker Faire Wayne County<\/a> is a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness<\/strong> and a celebration of the Maker Movement. \u00a0It\u2019s a place where people show what they are making and share what they are learning.\u00a0 Makers range from tech enthusiasts to crafters to homesteaders to scientists to garage tinkerers. \u00a0They are of all ages and backgrounds. \u00a0The aim of Maker Faire is to entertain, inform, connect and grow this community.<\/strong>\u00a0 <\/strong>For a complete list of awesome makers who attended Maker Faire Wayne County click here!<\/a><\/p>\n

Every maker who shares a project is amazing, and the same can be said collectively of our maker community,<\/strong> which supports and values the work of makers. \u00a0Make:\u2019s inaugural Amazing Maker Awards celebrate what makers do. \u00a0The winners are an eclectic group of makers and each one taps into a deep human urge to create and make real something that starts out as an idea. \u00a0We truly believe that the power of sharing motivates others to create and make.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Local Makers<\/strong><\/p>\n

We are proud to showcase Ohio makers<\/strong> who participated in Maker Faire Wayne County 2022 this past May. \u00a0One of these is Melissa Scott of Young Living Essential Oils.<\/strong>\u00a0 At Maker Faire Wayne County, Melissa explained why essential oils are so powerful and compatible with the human body. \u00a0It then becomes clear how we can use them to support our body’s systems and steward our health in a proactive way.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Faire attendees had the opportunity to make an essential oil roller<\/strong> for various therapeutic benefits, such as sleep, stress, and focus.<\/strong> \u00a0Using essential oils has become a lifestyle and Melissa enjoyed helping others experience their many benefits.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Another group who participated in Maker Faire Wayne County is the HolmesMade family. <\/strong>\u00a0They are always working on a project or two… or more. \u00a0They are excited to learn something new<\/strong> and work with new materials and methods. \u00a0From project planning to design and engineering work, and of course the actual making, the Holmes family enjoys working with their hands and minds on a variety of projects!<\/p>\n

At Maker Faire Wayne County, the family brought a custom built gokart!<\/strong>\u00a0 They learned to fabricate and MIG-weld metal. \u00a0The gokart is powered by Predator engine, has an overdrive torque converter, and mid-body suspension. \u00a0It has been driven in a parade and removed numerous patches of grass<\/strong> from the back yard.<\/p>\n

The second project was too big to bring to the faire; they built a barn for 4-H goat and rabbit projects.<\/strong> \u00a0From permits to framing, painting, roofing, and installing windows, they did it all. \u00a0A series of 10 videos<\/a> shares this project on YouTube. \u00a0Plans, videos, pictures, and some materials from the project will be on display. \u00a0Their pet goat<\/strong> was also a hit!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Rounding out our makers who participated in Maker Faire Wayne County are members of Triway High School\u2019s GenYES program,<\/strong> a program where students can assist staff and other students with tech-related issues. \u00a0You don’t just join GenYES to teach and help others,<\/strong> you can also learn some things yourself.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

At the maker faire, Ben, Darin, and others displayed various devices taken apart in order to demonstrate what each part of a computer does, how they can break, and how they can fix them.<\/strong>\u00a0 <\/strong>The group also had a couple computers running Photoshop, both to show what they’ve been able to create with it and also to encourage visitors to create their own masterpieces<\/strong> with the tool.<\/p>\n

And on top of that, the group brought a cluster of four old computer motherboards<\/strong> stacked on top of each other in a shelf, working together to simulate the folding of protein,<\/strong> with a visualization of the process shown on a monitor. \u00a0It was many small things working together can create something big!<\/p>\n
