Graham Dunn<\/a><\/strong> that can be personalized to make nice gifts.<\/p>\n Our Epilog laser engraver has a webpage full of creative ideas.\u00a0 Their Sample Club<\/a><\/strong> showcases projects for making gifts complete with pictures and instructions.\u00a0 We are happy to show you how!<\/strong><\/p>\n One such idea is a custom wind chime<\/a><\/strong> that makes the perfect addition to any front porch, garden area, or balcony. \u00a0Easily found on Amazon, the 3D Lab can help you engrave the chime\u2019s \u201csail\u201d with a welcome message, family name, etc., resulting in a beautiful, personalized Christmas gift.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n Want to make 3D printed gifts<\/strong> for loved ones?\u00a0 Visit Printables<\/a> or \u00a0Thingiverse<\/a> for gift ideas!\u00a0 Check out these beautiful ornaments<\/a><\/strong> that you can make on a 3D printer.<\/p>\n The 3D Lab is open for walk-ins Monday-Friday from 8:00-4:00 p.m.through December 16th<\/sup>.\u00a0 Appointments are required for the week of December 19-22nd; please email mailto:tjh1@uakron.edu<\/a> to request a time.\u00a0 After that, the 3D Lab is closed for the holidays until Monday, January 2nd.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Custom Apparel with the Heat Press<\/strong><\/p>\n Recently in the 3D Lab, Bev and Matthew have been working with the vinyl cutter and heat press.<\/strong>\u00a0 The vinyl cutter cuts stickers and paper, similar to a Cricut.\u00a0 It also supports heat transfer vinyl for permanent decals onto clothing<\/strong> and other surfaces.<\/p>\n Bev made \u201chandy\u201d dish towels while Matthew made shirts to promote Key Club International<\/a>,<\/strong> a Wayne County Schools Career Center branch of Kiwanis.\u00a0 This is a student-led organization that encourages leadership through serving others.<\/strong> \u00a0Bev and Matthew bought towels & shirts, we provided the rest!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Visit to Dalton Middle School<\/strong><\/p>\n Last month, the 3D Lab made an offsite visit to Dalton Middle School<\/a>.\u00a0 There, instructors Justin Abshear and Laura Grimm created a STEAM (Science, Technology Engineering, Arts, and Math) elective for 8th grade students. \u00a0DMS was one of the first school districts in Wayne County<\/strong> to have a STEAM program. \u00a0The school now has STEM\/STEAM education for all students K-12. \u00a0With major support from the community, Laura planned and built an awesome greenhouse,<\/strong> teaching students the joy of working in the dirt and growing a wide variety of plants.<\/p>\n We brought a 3D printer to the group, talked about careers in engineering,<\/strong> and how 3D printing is used in many careers<\/strong> from veterinary services, medical, civil engineering, culinary arts, and much more.\u00a0 Students were curious and asked lots of questions, a good sign of an interested group!<\/p>\n Stay tuned next month as we introduce interesting folks who participated in the Maker Faire last May!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n 3D printing is all the rage in construction , but are they cheaper than traditional building?<\/p>\n https:\/\/all3dp.com\/2\/3d-printed-house-cheaper<\/a><\/p>\n <\/p>\n 3D Printed Cookie Cutters: Fun Models to 3D Print!<\/p>\n https:\/\/all3dp.com\/2\/3d-printed-cookie-cutters-10-great-curated-models-to-3d-print<\/a><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Wayne County 2022 is a wrap!
