Hello everyone,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s hard to believe that summer is drawing to a close and Fall semester begins in a little over a month here at Wayne College!  Maintenance staff have been busy beautifying and improving the campus, especially with a collage of varied flowers and flowering bushes throughout the campus.  Feel free to stop-by for lunch at MARRs Caf\u00e9<\/a> on Tuesdays & Thursdays or check-out summer activities<\/a> happening in the Library! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While you\u2019re here, visit the Wayne College 3D Lab to make some cool stuff for yourself, friends, or community groups that you are involved with.  Attached is a list of possibilities and our lab hours are listed here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you haven\u2019t used the laser engraver in the 3D Lab, you\u2019re missing out on an easy-to-use, rewarding experience!  An engraver burns precise areas from many surfaces to reveal text, graphics, and even photos!  Check-out the engraved glass, wood, painted metal, and leather items that we have made.  It\u2019s a great way to customize a gift or make something completely original<\/a>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another popular machine at the Wayne College 3D Lab is the Roland GX-24 vinyl cutter.  It is similar to a Cricut found in many homes, but can cut designs up to 24\u201d wide!  The vinyl cutter can make single-color, non-fading stickers that are stuck to surfaces or heat pressed onto clothing.  Complicated cuts are covered with a sticky \u201cmasking\u201d material that transfers the design onto a surface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Below, a community member creates logos and bumper stickers in the 3D Lab for the 501st Legion<\/a>, an international costuming organization dedicated to celebrating STAR WARS\u2122 through the creation and use of quality costumes that portray the villainous, morally ambiguous, or non-partisan characters from the STAR WARS\u2122 universe.  The 3D Lab services everyone, even those from the Dark Side!  ?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A dedicated volunteer and experienced OMTech user, Mike has been teaching laser and CNC classes for four years at the Apple Creek Historical Society Maker Space. Since retiring from a career in product development, he\u2019s been helping others master OMTech machines through hands-on learning and community workshops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
