{"id":4294,"date":"2015-07-31T09:58:44","date_gmt":"2015-07-31T13:58:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/?p=4294"},"modified":"2015-07-31T09:58:44","modified_gmt":"2015-07-31T13:58:44","slug":"phone-clips-visit-with-the-orrville-rotary-club-final-week-of-summer-camp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/2015\/07\/31\/phone-clips-visit-with-the-orrville-rotary-club-final-week-of-summer-camp\/","title":{"rendered":"Phone clips, visit with the Orrville Rotary Club, final week of summer camp"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hello everyone,<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s another busy week in the 3D Lab.\u00a0\u00a0 Various community members frequent the lab on an almost daily basis, depending upon projects they are working on.\u00a0 All of our equipment gets a regular workout.\u00a0 The vinyl cutter, 3D printers, and laser engraver was used this week by past and current students, community members, and staff.\u00a0 We also hope this equipment will save money with college projects, being able to craft our own products instead of buying expensive pre-made ones.<\/p>\n<p>The summer camp with the Orrville Area Boys and Girls Club officially finished last week.\u00a0 It was an exciting time for the kids and rewarding for Chris, Nathan, and myself.\u00a0 This optional activity was well attended each week, testifying that the kids thoroughly enjoyed their time with us.\u00a0 We took their planes outside for a final flight test on a bright, sunny, slight windy day.\u00a0 The instructors and kids connected their controllers in tandem, allowing the former to take control if planes were in danger of crashing.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2015\/07\/IMG_20150722_160202.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4302\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2015\/07\/IMG_20150722_160202-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_20150722_160202\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Calibrating planes before flight<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2015\/07\/IMG_20150722_160413.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4310\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2015\/07\/IMG_20150722_160413-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_20150722_160413\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Pre-flight operational tests<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2015\/07\/IMG_20150722_160354.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4306\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2015\/07\/IMG_20150722_160354-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_20150722_160354\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Up in the air!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2015\/07\/IMG_20150722_161007.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4314\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2015\/07\/IMG_20150722_161007-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_20150722_161007\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Community member flying tandem<\/p>\n<p>Nathan flew his \u201cwing plane\u201d, a huge plane that has no body nor tail; a giant wing with propellers behind it.\u00a0 It was also equipped with a wireless camera to show the kids a bird\u2019s eye view of flight.\u00a0 They were impressed!\u00a0 The entire summer camp was a truly wonderful experience for us all, thanks to Chris, Nathan, the R\/C Flight Club, the Wayne County R\/C Club, and Kevin Platz from the Orrville Boys and Girls Club.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2015\/07\/IMG_20150722_164132.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4298\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2015\/07\/IMG_20150722_164132-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_20150722_164132\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Kids viewing bird\u2019s eye view of wing plane<\/p>\n<p>Back at the 3D Lab, our own Josh from Technical Support Services designed a replacement belt clip for his father\u2019s phone.\u00a0 The phone has an Otterbox protective case; the belt clip was designed to attach to this case.\u00a0 The original design was flawed in that the pin mount cracked and fell apart, thus the Otterbox will fall off the clip.
