{"id":674,"date":"2014-04-11T12:32:58","date_gmt":"2014-04-11T16:32:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/?p=674"},"modified":"2014-06-05T12:33:09","modified_gmt":"2014-06-05T16:33:09","slug":"wrenches-rinsers-and-we-need-your-vote","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/2014\/04\/11\/wrenches-rinsers-and-we-need-your-vote\/","title":{"rendered":"Wrenches, rinsers, and we need your vote!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hello everyone,<\/p>\n<p>We had some accomplishments the past couple of days.\u00a0 Our third 3D printer has been ordered, another MakerBot that works with PLA plastic (instead of ABS that we currently use).\u00a0 This will allow us to print more complicated parts.\u00a0 Thanks to the Romich Foundation for funding this purchase.\u00a0 Second, Dusty printed more parts for the automatic parts rinser machine for the Chemistry Lab.\u00a0 This machine will rinse parts 30 times without human intervention, based on his own original design:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2014\/06\/part-rinser-piece.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-678\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2014\/06\/part-rinser-piece-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"part rinser piece\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We also printed a different wrench design from Thingiverse.com.\u00a0 This wrench prints as one piece (no assembly nor glue required).\u00a0 Just take it out of the printer, remove a few pieces of support plastic, and a fully functioning wrench remains:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2014\/06\/wrench3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-682\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2014\/06\/wrench3-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"wrench3\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Word is getting out about the makerspace at Wayne College.\u00a0 Our own Kaitlyn will present 3D printer technology during the Administrative Professionals Day later this month.\u00a0 Our Makerbot will have a spot in an upcoming Wayne College commercial, so stay tuned!<\/p>\n<p>Carolyn from Word Processing brought-in a part that she would like replicated, as the original piece is broken and difficult to repair.\u00a0 Our engineering students are ready to tackle this task and will convert this complicated part to CAD soon:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2014\/06\/boat-hitch.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-686\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2014\/06\/boat-hitch-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"boat hitch\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Speaking of the Wayne College Makerspace, we are looking for a catchy name and logo.\u00a0 Please let us know if you have something in-mind!\u00a0 Below are three logos;
