Wayne County Mini Maker Faire"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hello everyone,<\/p>\n<p>Plans are underway for the next <a href=\"http:\/\/waynecounty.makerfaire.com\/\">Wayne County Mini Maker Faire<\/a> on <strong>May 19th, 2018<\/strong>.\u00a0 Be sure to mark your calendar to attend and especially to <a href=\"http:\/\/waynecounty.makerfaire.com\/call-for-makers\/\">participate<\/a> as a \u201cmaker\u201d.\u00a0 The Daily Record said it best: \u201cDubbed the \u2018Greatest Show and Tell on Earth\u2019, over <strong>1,300 people<\/strong> flocked to the inaugural faire at the University of Akron Wayne College this past May where they were able to step back in time and see the future at the same time.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2017\/07\/steve.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-8339\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2017\/07\/steve-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>But you don\u2019t have to wait until 2018 to enjoy the excitement and awe of Maker Faire.\u00a0 These events are happening all over the country (and all over the world), <strong>over 220 of them each year!<\/strong>\u00a0 Need inspired?\u00a0 <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/hackaday.com\/2016\/06\/29\/denver-mini-maker-faire-roundup\/\">Check out these photos from Denver\u2019s Mini Maker Faire<\/a><\/strong>. From engineers to artists to scientists to crafters, Maker Faire is a venue for these &#8216;makers&#8217; to show hobbies, experiments, projects,\u2019 according to its website.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We are <strong>proud to showcase Ohio makers<\/strong> who participated in the Wayne County Mini Maker Faire!\u00a0 One such group are <strong>woodworking students from Hiland High School<\/strong>, led by instructor Roche Harmon. \u00a0Students grade 9-12 have made everything from chess tables to dressers to gun racks.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2017\/07\/woodworking.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-8355\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2017\/07\/woodworking-300x226.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"226\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>During the Maker Faire last May, students will be displayed their woodworking projects they have made earlier this year. Some of the projects at the faire included coffee tables, display tables, dressers, chess tables, gun racks, tables, and storage boxes. \u00a0<strong>Roche Harmon<\/strong> is currently the Industrial Technology Teacher at Hiland High School, which is part of the East Holmes Local School District, where he teaches woodworking and computer aided design. He is currently completing his 33rd year of teaching. \u00a0<strong>He wants to make a difference<\/strong> in the lives of students in the area of woodworking.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Rounding out our makers who participated is <strong>RAMTEC &#8211; Wayne County Schools Career Center&#8217;s<\/strong> newest program. Focusing on the needs of local industry, they offer both High School and Adult Education classes in Robotics, Automation and CNC Machining.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2017\/07\/ramtec.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-8359\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/waynec3\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1058\/2017\/07\/ramtec-226x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"226\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>RAMTEC is the new addition at the Career Center.
