\u00a0 <\/strong>SPECIAL NOTE \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n The deadline to participate<\/strong> has been extended to Sunday, April 15th!\u00a0 Space is limited, so signup here<\/a>. <\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Wayne County Mini Maker Faire is a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness<\/strong>, and a celebration of the Maker Movement. \u00a0It\u2019s a place where people show what they are making, and share what they are learning.\u00a0 Makers range from tech enthusiasts to crafters to homesteaders to scientists to garage tinkerers. They are of all ages and backgrounds. The aim of Maker Faire is to entertain, inform, connect and grow this community<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The 2017 faire hosted 70 makers from all corners of the community, many of whom are coming back for the faire this May!\u00a0 Click here<\/a> to see all of the interesting and friendly folks who participated last year<\/strong>.\u00a0 There truly is something for everyone.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Check-out this interesting review of Orlando Maker Faire<\/a>, a two-day event.\u00a0 It\u2019s not just about a homemade speedometer for a skateboard, tweaking a coffee maker to produce the perfect brewing temperature, \u00a0nor children experiencing virtual reality for the first time.\u00a0 It\u2019s about building community.<\/strong>\u00a0 \u201cOften times, when you are building a project, you do it alone,\u201d Jared Porcenaluk says. \u201cKnowing other people are out there, there are other nerds out there, doing similar things as you is a real morale booster and a confidence booster.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n We are proud to showcase Ohio makers<\/strong> who participated in the Wayne County Mini Maker Faire last year.\u00a0 Two such groups are the Orrville Police and Fire Departments<\/strong>.\u00a0 They showcased some of the equipment and new technology they used in the field. \u00a0Faire attendees could interact with the technology, \u00a0such as cameras that showed what is able to be viewed when worn by officers.<\/p>\n Police had Axon Body Cameras available to show the public. \u00a0Police also brought SRT equipment to show. The Fire Department distributed handouts and talked about fire prevention.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Rounding out our makers who participated is David Pickett<\/strong> from Orrville.\u00a0 At his, David demonstrated an interactive, portable, noninvasive device to treat congestive heart failure<\/strong> and angina. The device improves blood flow throughout the body.
