{"id":1847,"date":"2016-01-25T13:41:45","date_gmt":"2016-01-25T13:41:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/weeks\/?page_id=1847"},"modified":"2016-01-27T20:54:52","modified_gmt":"2016-01-27T20:54:52","slug":"hydrobiologia-2002a-486295-302","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/weeks\/sample-page\/hydrobiologia-2002a-486295-302\/","title":{"rendered":"Hydrobiologia 2002a, 486:295-302"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Abstract<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Herein we report the first genetic comparison among species in the genus <i>Eulimnadia<\/i>.\u00a0 Multilocus genotypic patterns (using six allozyme loci) were compared for a total of 2277 clam shrimp from nine populations from Arizona and New Mexico.\u00a0 Seven of these populations were morphologically typed as <i>Eulimnadia texana<\/i> Packard and two were typed as <i>Eulimnadia diversa<\/i> Mattox.\u00a0 All populations were hermaphrodite-biased, and highly inbred (inbreeding coefficients ranging from 0.33 \ufffd 0.98).\u00a0 Genetic distances showed the two species to be within the range described for other arthropods.\u00a0 One of the two <i>E. diversa<\/i> populations appeared to be a hybrid between <i>E. texana<\/i> and <i>E. diversa<\/i>, showing electrophoretic patterns similar to both species, although morphologically, they were typed as <i>E. diversa<\/i>.\u00a0 A phenogram (generated using coancestry distances and a neighbor joining algorithm) placed this hybrid population half-way between these two species, and a breakdown of individuals within this hybrid population (based on allozyme scores) indicated individuals very similar to the second <i>E. diversa<\/i> population, and two groups of apparent hybrid individuals.\u00a0 Therefore, the distinction between these two species is called into question due to the their apparent hybridization in this area of Arizona.<\/p>\n<p>Genetic population structuring was noted among the seven <i>E. texana<\/i> pools.\u00a0 Estimated migration rates were less than one migrant per generation.\u00a0 Even in the geographically close pools in New Mexico, which were separated by only hundreds of meters, significant sub-structuring was noted, and estimates of migration rate were less than two migrants per generation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Abstract Herein we report the first genetic comparison among species in the genus Eulimnadia.\u00a0 Multilocus genotypic patterns (using six allozyme loci) were compared for a total of 2277 clam shrimp from nine populations from Arizona and New Mexico.\u00a0 Seven of these populations were morphologically typed as Eulimnadia texana Packard and two were typed as Eulimnadia [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2555,"featured_media":0,"parent":7,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"page-full-width.php","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-1847","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"jetpack_sharing_enabled":true,"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/weeks\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/1847","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/weeks\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/weeks\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/page"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/weeks\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2555"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/weeks\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=1847"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/weeks\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/1847\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":1851,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/weeks\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/1847\/revisions\/1851"}],"up":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/weeks\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/7"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.uakron.edu\/weeks\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1847"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
