Member of the Week- Matt Farkas

Matt Farkas is a member here at WZIP. Farkas is apart of the News department as well as the Promotions department. He was nominated by his news director because he is always willing to help, even with last minute projects Matt is always there to lend a hand.. Matt Farkas goes above and beyond to help. Farkas is majoring in political science and his dream job is to be a senator. Farkas is a fan of Harry Nilsson and would one day like to meet Terry Crews. His favorite things about WZIP is the teamwork and environment. When asked to give advice to the potential new members of WZIP, Farkas said “try new things.Be you, it’s the most interesting thing. Break the norms.”

Member of the Week: Isaiah Houde

WZIP’s member of the week is Isaiah Houde. Isaiah joined WZIP in 2015 during the spring semester and is apart of the Sports and DJ Departments. He enjoys being apart of WZIP because of all of the resources and opportunities that the station offers its members.

Isaiah was nominated to be Member of the Week because of the hard work he puts into WZIP. He continues to help his fellow members and always brings a positive attitude. Isaiah gives solid performances on WZIP’s Sports Power Talks, as well as covering the Cavs. During his DJ shifts, Isaiah continues to engage with his callers. Apart from WZIP, Isaiah also writes two articles daily for the Patriots Wire.

Isaiah’s favorite color is red, his favorite animals are dogs, and he enjoys eating food that involves buffalo chicken. With what little free time Isaiah has, he spends it by catching up on his sleep. His favorite artist is J. Cole and he encourages others to listen to his music. If Isaiah could meet any celebrity he said he would like to meet with J. Cole and talk with him about his life.

Isaiah is majoring in Communications and is minoring in Sports Studies. His dream job is to work for ESPN and to cover the Patriots. His advice for new coming members is to take advantage of all of the resources at WZIP. He explains that everyone at the station has valuable skills that can help one another and that WZIP is a great program that helps to set students up for success. With that being said, don’t forget to tune into WZIP on Thursdays from 11-1 to hear Isaiah live on air.


Member of the Week: Cortez Grayson


Cortez is an incredibly active member here at WZIP and ZTV. Cortez is a radio DJ and he also participates with the WZIP Sports team. He enjoys being a DJ because he likes having his own personalized DJ shift. Cortez also enjoys being apart of the sports team because it has given him a lot of opportunities to cover various sporting events. For example,Cortez has covered every home game for the men’s basketball team. He also covered all four days of the  2017 MAC Tournament.

Cortez always displays his passion for radio through his work, which is what got him nominated to be Member of the Week. His hard work has not gone unnoticed. He is a prime example of what every member should aspire to be.

What Cortez does for WZIP goes in hand for what he wants to do with his future. Cortez’s career goal is to either work for WOIO Cleveland News as a reporter or work for ESPN as a news reporter. His advice for new coming members is to get involved in as many teams as possible. In doing so, it allows students to learn more about each department of WZIP. He also advises students to join ZTV because it allows you to learn even more about different aspects of the media industry. With that being said, tune in every Thursday from 3-6 to hear DJ CJG live on air.

Member of the Week: Dahmere Epperson


Dahmere Epperson is a member of WZIP. He is involved with the Music Programming team along with being a member of the On-Air Talent. His outgoing personality radiates through the mic, so some of you may recognize him by his DJ name, DJ EzD! Dahmere is the host of The Late Night Local Talent, which features local artists and bands in the Akron area. His positive attitude and drive to do the best is what every member of WZIP should aspire to be like. Dahmere loves the huge platform WZIP offers where everyone has the opportunity to show their skills and to become a professional.

Dahmere’s career goal is to work for a Sirius XM radio station.  His advice to new members of WZIP is to find what interests you most and to follow your path in order to make yourself happy. There are so many opportunities that WZIP offers, so finding what suits you most is beneficial. Remember to catch Dahmere live on air from 7 to 11pm on Mondays and Wednesdays.
