We are grateful to team up with organizations who are crucial to the success of our team.
The University of Akron: College of Engineering and Polymer Science (CEPS) has been the primary source of funding for our team. After our budget meeting with faculty from CEPS, the decision was made to grant the UA VTOL $9,000.00 for the 2024/2025 academic year. This would not be possible without CEPS. Phalanx Robotics Design Team is a VEX U robotics team. Students on Phalanx work together to construct robots to compete in intense two versus two elimination brackets all over the country, all while learning about the engineering design process, coding, communication, manufacturing, teamwork and more. They have generously gifted UA VTOL over $6,000.00 worth of parts, toolboxes, and shelving they no longer needed. Check out their YouTube channel here!
eCalc is the most widely used online calculator tool for RC applications and is extremely helpful when calculating values that go into the design of a VTOL. They have generously donated a paid membership to the design team to get access to their full suite of online tools. Check them out!
Precision International is a capable of quoting and fabricating a wide variety of structural and pipe parts/assemblies/projects. They serve a broad range of industries including construction, energy, transportation, wireless, and many more. Huge thanks to Mr. Tony Crisalli for donating $2,000.00 to our team! This will allow us to develop new prototypes and continue innovating over the summer. Take a look at some of the cool projects completed by Precision International!
Engineering Consultants Group (ECG) is a progressive engineering firm focused on process control, testing, monitoring, analysis, and custom software development. They serve many industries with a specialization in power generation. ECG focuses on testing plant equipment such as pulverizers, boilers, and turbines, DCS integration and digital control. Their supplementary support of $1,000.00 is incredible. Check them out here!
Corsair Model Aircraft Club (CMAC) is a local aerial RC modeling club. They are a designated FRIA (FAA-Recognized Identification Area) which allows testing and flight of RC aircraft without the need for remote ID equipment. The president of the club, John Ashley, has been extremely helpful in a variety of areas. He has provided us with prototype equipment and access to the flying field. These contributions helped expedite the research required to succeed at competition. John also generously contributed $1,000.00 to the team. This donation was crucial to the team’s attendance at the competition due to the team’s limited budget this year. Discover more about their club here!
The University of Akron Central Stores has generously provided UA VTOL with two rolling work benches, two flie cabinets, microwave, freezer, and refrigerator Check out their website here!
Synergy Hobbies is a precision manufacturing company with a focus on developing carbon fiber frames and propeller blades for remote control helicopter enthusiests along with contracting deals with companies like Anduril. They have agreed to provide UA VTOL with precision milling services for our carbon fiber frame at a 50% discount. Learn more about their various capabilities here!
Innov8tive Designs specializes in model and hobby motors, propellers, electronic speed controllers and more! They generously provided UA VTOL with a 30% dicount off Cobra motors and APC propellers. Check out their store here!
Event 38 Unmanned Systems designs and manufactures fixed-wing VTOL drones in Richfield, Ohio. Since 2011, They have sold over 600 drones to businesses, governments and NGOs all around the globe. Their drones capture geo-tagged data for a range of industries and applications. They generously gifted UA VTOL with carbon fiber propellers. These propellers are lighter weight, more energy efficient, and more expensive when compared to plastic APC propellers. He also gifted 6 electronic speed controllers to the team. Discover more about their drones here!
