Asian Cultural Council: Individual Grants

Main Purpose:  To encourage a cultural exchange between The United States and Asia by supporting the “living costs and international travel for students participating in graduate/post-graduate degree programs relating to the visual and performing arts.”

Benefits: No specific amount of the grant is indicated but funding is available for works in the following areas: archaeology, architecture, art history, arts administration, arts criticism, conservation, crafts, curation, film/video, literature, museum studies, music, photography, theater, and visual arts

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be an artist, arts or humanities professional, scholar, or graduate/post-graduate student an arts-oriented field
  • Country of permanent residence must be in The United States or Asia
  • Proposed project must take place outside home country- either in The United States or Asia
  • Project must begin no earlier than June of the year following application, and must take place within 18 months of receiving the award (award notification is received in May)

SIOP: Graduate Student Scholarships and Lee Hakel Graduate Student Scholarship

Main Purpose: To recognize and support graduate students in industrial and organizational psychology. This scholarship is through the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP).

Benefits: $3,000-$3,500 to be used for any graduate school expenses

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Full-time doctoral student in an Industrial Organizational Psychology program
  • Must be student affiliate of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology
  • Dissertation proposal already approved by advisor
  • May not have previously received another SIOP scholarship

Meredith P. Crawford Fellowship: Human Resources Research Organization

Main Purpose: To support I/O Psychology students with exceptional research skills in completing dissertation research.

Benefits: $12,000 stipend

Eligibility Criteria: 

  • Doctoral candidate in I/O Psychology
  • Dissertation proposal must already be approved
  • Actively involved in the process of completing dissertation
  • Will be required to present research during a visit to the Human Resources Research Organization

Freedom and Well-being Post Doctoral Fellowship

Main Purpose: To support students who are serious about pursuing a career in academia with a focus on freedom and well-being.

Benefits: 

  • One-year stipend for the host university
  • Additional resources may be available to allow the fellow to attend academic conferences

 

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must have earned their PhD in 2014 or the spring of 2015 in history, political science, or philosophy
  • Committed to career in academia and studying freedom and well-being
  • Superior academic record and excellent publication record
  • Tentative arrangement to be hosted at a University within the United States with access to a faculty mentor

Main Purpose: To assist students in funding psychological science research, some specific to diversity-focused research.

Benefits: 

  • $1,000 to be used for research (thesis, dissertation,  or other)
  • Some $1,000 grants are available for research directly related to diversity

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Graduate student enrolled at least half-time at an accredited university
  • Member of the American Psychological Association of Graduate Students
    • Students who are members of the American Psychological Association as undergraduate student affiliates, associate member, or other member status, must change their status to graduate student affiliate prior to applying

APAGS/Psi Chi Junior Scientist Fellowship

Main Purpose: To support young graduate students in a research-oriented graduate program.

Benefits:

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be entering first year or first semester of second year of a research-oriented master’s or doctorate program
  • If program has a practice component, applicant must describe research intentions in personal statement essay
  • Must be a member of the American Psychological Association of Graduate Students AND be a member of Psi Chi (therefore first year students must have joined Psi Chi as an undergraduate)

American Psychological Association Dissertation Research Award

Main Purpose: To help science-oriented doctoral students of psychology with the costs of research.

Benefits:

  • 30-40 grants of $1,000 each
  • Several larger $5,000 grants

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Graduate student in psychology at an accredited college university in The United States or Canada
  • In good standing with their university
  • Full-time student or working on dissertation research for an equivalent of full-time enrollment (regardless of actual registration status)
  • Student affiliate or associate member of The American Psychological Association
  • Dissertation proposal approved by dissertation committee
  • May not have received a previous APA Dissertation Research Award
