Education

2005-2009   Ph.D. Chemical Engineering  – University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
2004-2005   M.S. Chemical Engineering  – University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
2000-2004   B.S. Chemical Engineering  – Carnegie Mellon University

Research Interests

Dr. Monty’s research is based on a platform of reaction engineering and advanced electrochemical engineering with current projects focused on 1) nanostructured materials for sensing in public health applications and 2) advanced electrochemical techniques for corrosion prevention and mitigation. Current projects in my research group include:

  • Carbon Nanotube Nanocomposite Materials for Biomonitoring at the Surface of the Skin Evaluation of salt neutralizer wash treatments for corrosion prevention of winter maintenance equipment
  • Colorimetric Sensing and Preconcentration Materials for Detection of Organic Drinking Water Contaminants
  • Evaluation of Corrosion Prevention Strategies for Winter Maintenance Equipment
  • Electrochemical Techniques for Real-time Monitoring of Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion (MIC)
