(1) List your judicial experience (courts and years):
In 2015, I served as an Akron Municipal Court Judge. I heard multiple
jury trials; trials to the Court (where the judge rules on a case), and
evidentiary hearings such as: motions to suppress evidence, appeals of
eviction proceedings, motions to seal records, etc. In all I was
responsible for approaching 2,000 cases during my tenure as Judge of
the Akron Municipal Court.
Between 1991 and approximately 2003, served as an panel arbitrator
and chief arbitrator in civil matters in the Summit County Common
Pleas Court. During arbitrations, the panel heard evidence, ruled on
objections, and made decisions on civil cases referred by presiding
judges. In 1989 I was selected by Summit County Common Pleas Judge
Glen Morgan to serve as his judicial attorney. During that time I
researched and drafted judicial rulings on all matters before the court. I
also learned and handled the administrative duties of the court over the
two years serving as a judicial attorney.

(2) What about your non-judicial legal experience quali×es you to be a
judge?
Over the past 26 years I have practiced law as a trial attorney in
criminal, civil, domestic and probate matters before most of the judges
in Summit, Medina and Portage Counties. I have conducted
approximately 50 jury trials, and countless evidentiary hearings over
the course of my law practice. During that time, I have developed an
extensive knowledge of the law, procedures, protocols, and
administration of those courts. That knowledge has equipped me to
understand and ef×ciently preside as a judge of the Summit County
Common Pleas Court.
In addition, I am well known, and well respected as a trial attorney in
the northeast Ohio area by the judges themselves, and my fellow
attorneys. A judge also has a role in the efficient administration of the
court resources and personnel. Knowing the judges who sit on the
Summit County Common Pleas bench, along with most of the staff
would assist me in being an effective judge.

(3) Why are you running for this particular court seat?
There is a long legal tradition (7 attorneys; 1 judge) in my family. I have
been raised within it; have embraced it; and have thoroughly enjoyed it.
My grandfather Tony Lombardi, served as a Common Pleas judge. I was
drawn to the judicial role by my grandfather, whom I loved and admired.
I had the privilege of serving as an Akron Municipal judge in 2015, and
loved the position. I am running again to fulfill a dream, a calling, and to
seek a position I respect and aspire to attain. Lastly, and most
important, I am a man of faith, and fairness. I believe that our judiciary
has a duty to provide the fair and ef×cient administration of justice to
the citizens of the community. This is particularly true when today, it
seems that many citizens are skeptical of the legal system. That
reputation needs to change, and I wish to work toward that change.
