(1) List your judicial experience (courts and years):
Since 2009 I have presided over civil cases where the amount in dispute
is above 5,000, felony criminal cases, and administrative appeals.
Between April 2009 and December 2017, I presided over more than
10,000 cases. Of these cases, 16 were designated as complex litigation.
As of December 2017, I have presided over 81 criminal jury trials, 16
civil jury trials, 1 criminal bench trial and 34 civil bench trials. I have
been exposed to and decided a variety of issues from sentencing on
murder and rape cases to multi-million-dollar civil litigation. And I have
done so in a thorough and timely manner. I currently serve as a Member
of Franklin County Court of Common Pleas General Division Personnel
and Criminal Committees and I am Vice-Chair of the Finance
Committee. I previously served on the Technology and Rules
Committees.

(2) What about your non-judicial legal experience qualifies you to be a
judge?
I have proven myself to be an independent thinker committed to
following the law and doing what I think is right. I have made many
difficult decisions and withstood the accompanying scrutiny. My
experience and proven dedication to public service make me uniquely
qualified to become an appellate judge. I am willing to listen to all
people, I treat all people with respect and I work hard on every case. I
apply the law to each matter before me in a tempered, impartial and
fair manner while always remembering that the decisions I make have a
tremendous impact on people’s lives. I have worked tirelessly to
improve our community through my deep commitment to public
service. For example, I served on the Greater Columbus Infant
Mortality Task Force, which aimed to reduce the rate of infant mortality
in Franklin County. I have served on the boards of United Way of
Central Ohio and YWCA Columbus.

(3) Why are you running for this particular court seat?
I am running to become a Judge on the Tenth District Court of Appeals
to impact the application of justice in a fair and just manner on a larger
scale. In contrast to my current position as a trial court judge where my
decisions only impact the cases before me, my decisions on the
appellate level would have county-wide application. This larger reach
could potentially extend to the entire state because other counties
often rely on 10th District decisions when reaching their own
determinations.
