Affiliations: In 2012 and 2017, Judge Delaney served as the Court’s Presiding Judge. Judge Delaney has served by assignment on the Ohio Supreme Court and on the Second, Fourth, Seventh, Tenth and Eleventh District Courts of Appeals. She has been a speaker for the Supreme Court of Ohio Judicial College courses including courses on evidence, judical fairness and new judge orientation. In 2013, Judge Delaney was appointed to the Ohio Supreme Court’s Commission on the Rules of Superintendence and served as Chair of Commission from 2015-2018. She is also a member of the Coshocton Business and Professional Women’s Association; the Delaware Women’s Club; the Ohio Women’s Bar Association; the Delaware Bar Association; the Stark County Bar Association; and the Ohio State Bar Association. She is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court, Northern and Southern Divisions of Ohio; the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court. Judge Delaney is Catholic and a parishioner of St. Mary Church in Delaware, Ohio.

(1) List your judicial experience (courts and years):

Judge Delaney is seeking re-election for a third term on the Court of Appeals. Judge Delaney’s first term commenced on February 11, 2007. She was re-elected by 65% of the vote to a second term, commencing February 11, 2013.

(2) What about your non-judicial legal experience qualifies you to be a
judge?

Immediately prior to joining the bench, Judge Delaney served as a Columbus Assistant City Attorney for nine years, practicing in complex civil ligation in federal and state court, conducting federal jury trials representing Columbus police officers and city employees. She recovered over one million dollars in taxpayers funds representing city departments. She also served with Ohio Attorney General’s Office Environmental Enforcement Section, representing the Ohio EPA throughout Ohio, and the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas, one of Ohio busiest courts.

(3) Why are you running for this particular court seat?

To continue service to the 15 Ohio counties comprising the Fifth Appellate District. The Fifth District is one of the largest, busiest Appellate courts in Ohio and each day brings new, exciting challenges. Simply, I love my job.
