March Opportunities from NASA

Light-weighted Primary Mirror and Mount Assembly for the Gondola for High-Altitude Planetary Science Optical Telescope Assembly

Deadline: March 6, 2017

This Request for Proposal (RFP) notice is issued by NASA/MSFC for developing anoptical telescope assembly (OTA) for use on the Gondola for High Altitude Planetary Science (GHAPS), a re-suable balloon-borne stratospheric astronomical observatory. The telescope consists of several components, including the primary and secondary mirrors, mirror support systems, optical metering structure, light baffles, thermal sensing and control components, and focusing mechanism. This procurement is a full and open competition.

Remote Sensing of Water Quality

Deadline: March 8, 2017

NASA solicits projects that improve remote sensing capability of water quality. While proposed “field campaigns” are acceptable, proposers are encouraged to keep their efforts small and targeted to the specific work proposed. NASA may seek to leverage all the funded investigations and investigators to help generate a plan for a larger field campaign that would collect a much larger set of environmental descriptors.

Rapid Response and Novel Research in Earth Science

Deadline: March 31, 2017

This program element solicits proposals that advance the goals and objectives of NASA’s Earth Science Division by conducting unique research to investigate 1) unforeseen or unpredictable Earth system events and opportunities that require rapid response, and 2) novel new ideas of potential high merit and relevance for ESD science that have not otherwise been solicited by NASA in the past three years.

Topical Workshops, Symposia, and Conferences

Deadline: March 31, 2017

This program element solicits proposals for topical workshops, symposia, conferences, and other scientific/technical meetings (herein referred to as “events”) that advance the goals and objectives of only the following SMD Divisions: Earth Science, Heliophysics, and Planetary Science.

Ohio Arts Council

Arts Partnership Grants

Deadline: March 1, 2017

The Arts Partnership program is designed to provide a flexible source of support for arts learning projects that address the needs of individual learners and their communities, particularly under served populations.

Arts Access Program

Deadline: March 1, 2017

The Arts Access program supports arts and cultural activities that broaden opportunities for Ohio citizens to participate in the arts. These grants provide both project support for new and emerging organizations and general operating support for organizations with annual budgets under $50,000.

March 2017 NSF Grants

Cybersecurity Innovation for Cyberinfrastructure

Deadline:   March 1, 2017

Advancements in data-driven scientific research depend on trustworthy and reliable cyberinfrastructure. Researchers rely on a variety of networked technologies and software tools to achieve their scientific goals. These may include local or remote instruments, wireless sensors, software programs, operating systems, database servers, high-performance computing, large-scale storage, and other critical infrastructure connected by high-speed networking.

Energy-Efficient Computing: from Devices to Architectures

Deadline: March 7, 2017

This partnership will specifically support new research to minimize the energy impacts of processing, storing, and moving data within future computing systems, and will be synergistic with other research activities that address other aspects of this overarching energy-constrained computing performance challenge.

NSF Scholarships in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Program

Deadline: March 29, 2017

Recognizing that financial aid alone cannot increase retention and graduation in STEM, the program provides awards to Institutions of Higher Education (IHEs) to fund scholarships and to advance the adaptation, implementation, and study of effective evidence-based curricular and co-curricular activities that support recruitment, retention, transfer (if appropriate), student success, academic/career pathways, and graduation in STEM.
