About the Study
The study investigates the relationship between the brain, pain-states, and various mental tasks. The study serves to aid in advancements in pain identification and neuro/language processing. It involves stimulation with cold water.
Requirements
- Must be a member of The University of Akron
- Must be at least 18 years of age
Inclusion Criteria
- Non-chronic pain patients
- Chronic pain patients (e.g. migraines, chronic back pain, chronic leg pain, etc.)
Exclusion Criteria
- Those who have a history of head or brain conditions (e.g. head trauma, epilepsy, brain tumor, stroke, etc. ) will be excluded from this study
- Those who may be pregnant
- Those currently experiencing depression or anxiety
- Those with conditions that may alter the ability to perceive and/or process pain
- Those with conditions that may alter the ability to perform mental tasks
