◆ Supervised and managed construction of many foundations, structural elements, and performed on-site QA/QC.
◆ Managed and prepared inspection reports documenting conditions of existing sewer pipes, developed recommendations for remedial activities and estimated repair costs.
Geotechnical Investigation
◆ Supervised and managed geotechnical investigations for a variety of projects ranging from small commercial buildings to large public works projects. Developed specific recommendations for foundations, pavements and earthwork. Prepared technical reports including construction feasibility evaluations.
◆ Supervised and managed investigation and prepared a geotechnical report for the Northeast Relief Sewer, Flint, Michigan. Project included 40,000 feet of 72-inch inside-diameter concrete sanitary sewer.
◆ Supervised and managed investigation and prepared a geotechnical report for East Dearborn Combined Sewer, Dearborn, Michigan. The project included 5,000 feet of 72-inch inside-diameter concrete combined sewer.
◆ Managed and performed forensic study for a wharf failure in Camden, New Jersey. The wharf was constructed in a hydraulically placed fill and failed due to liquefaction.
◆ Managed and performed dynamic analysis and design for a footing for a laser machine for Ford Company, Woodhaven, Michigan.
◆ Managed and performed dynamic analysis using a digital frequency analyzer for an MRI unit at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Detroit, Michigan.
◆ Managed and supervised numerous geotechnical projects in Detroit-Michigan area for office buildings, and other facilities.
◆ Managed and performed dynamic monitoring and analysis using digital seismographs for many projects in Michigan.
◆ Supervised and managed geotechnical investigations for several bridges in Columbus-Ohio. Developed specific recommendations for foundations and earthwork. Prepared technical reports including construction feasibility evaluations.
◆ Supervised and managed slope stability analysis for numerous landslides in Ohio. Prepared technical reports including landslide remediation, and cost estimate. Landslide remediation included piles, buttresses, and slope regrading.
◆ Supervised and managed many landslide projects in Pennsylvania.
◆ Supervised and managed construction monitoring and material testing for many projects in Pennsylvania.
◆ Supervised and managed subsurface investigation and pavement design for many projects in Ohio.
◆ Supervised and managed red flag reports for different roadways, bridges and culverts in Ohio.
◆ Supervised and managed subsurface investigations for culvert replacement and construction in Ohio.
◆ Performed dewatering analysis for Marysville Tunnel, Ohio.
◆ Supervised and managed geotechnical engineering analysis and reports for Portsmouth Bypass, Portsmouth, Ohio. The project included piles, drilled shafts, culverts, MSE walls, roadways, and embankments.
◆ Performed dynamic analysis for group and single piles in liquefiable sand for projects in Japan.
◆ Performed analysis for Dolphin piles under lateral loads for projects in Japan.
Underground Engineering
◆ Finite element analysis of Detroit River Outfall tunnel. The finite element included analysis of tunnel stresses and deformations, soil consolidation, and stability of an existing nearby soil stockpile.
◆ Finite element analysis of Orme Street Sewer in Virginia. The finite element included analysis of a horseshoe tunnel, soil deformation, building settlements, and slurry walls deformations.
◆ Finite element analysis of deformation in very soft clay in Detroit Waste Water Treatment Plant (DWWTP) resulted from construction activities of two large clarifiers. DWWTP is considered the largest in the world.
◆ Finite element analysis of Soo Lock, Michigan. Soo Lock is a rock navigational lock located in the Upper Peninsula in Michigan. Analysis included stability of rock masses and cuts.
◆ Finite element analysis of tieback temporary earth retention systems for a new Casino in Detroit, Michigan.
◆ Reviewed contractor submittals for temporary earth retention systems for various projects, including Detroit Waste Water Treatment Plant, Conner Creek Basin in Detroit, Michigan.
◆ Managed and performed analysis for 125 and 110 feet O.D. sinking caissons in soft clay in Dearborn, Michigan. This work was part of Dearborn CSO Tunnel.
◆ Managed and performed analysis and wrote specifications for rock blasting operations inside 125 and 110 feet O.D sinking caissons in Dearborn, Michigan. This work was part of Dearborn CSO Tunnel.
◆ Performed analysis for Rack-40 wastewater treatment plant, Akron-Ohio. The project included a deep excavation supported by sheet piles and soil anchors in silt with artesian pressure. The dimensions of the excavation were 219x294x52 feet.
◆ Worked as a geotechnical engineer on Marysville Tunnel project in Marysville, Ohio. The total length of the tunnel is approximately 6 miles. Cut and cover tunneling as well as tunneling using earth balanced tunnel boring machine (EBTBM) will be used to install 6-foot diameter concrete tunnel.
Construction Engineering
◆ Managed and monitored the construction of Conner Creek Basin in soft ground in Detroit, Michigan. The site included inclinometers, piezometers, telltales, and monitoring wells. Conner Creek project included a 40 feet deep cofferdam, more than 7,000 piles, and creek dredging. Reviewed contractor submittals, and performed construction inspection.
◆ Managed and monitored the construction of two large clarifiers (125-foot inside diameter each) in soft ground in Detroit Waste Water Treatment Plant, Detroit, Michigan. The site included inclinometers, piezometers, extensometers, and monitoring wells. The project included temporary earth retention systems and more than 300 piles. Reviewed contractor submittals, and performed construction inspection.
◆ Managed and monitored the vibration and blasting of rock for Grosse Ile Waste Water Treatment Plant, Grosse Ile, Michigan. Project included blasting rock for basin foundation and sewer alignment. Sewer alignment extended approximately 3 miles within residential areas. Responsibilities included vibration monitoring and blast program design depending on vibration limits.
◆ Managed, supervised, and performed cost estimates for one of Dearborn CSO tunnel alternatives. The cost of the alternative was approximately 900 million dollars. Structures within the project included riser shafts, drop shafts, diversion chambers and dechlorination structures. Tunnel will be constructed in soft soil and rock.
