Main Purpose: To support beginning researchers within 3 years of completing their PhD in carrying out independent research projects in the areas of atmospheric and geospace sciences.
Benefits:
- Stipend of $58,000 per year paid monthly at the rate of $4,833 directly to the Fellow
- An annual lump sum fellowship allowance of $28,000 to support research and publication activities
- Fellowship may be taken to the institution or facility of choice
Time Limit: up to 2 years
Eligibility Criteria:
- Current graduate student OR have held a PhD for no more than 3 years
- Degree in the field of science or engineering with research plans falling in the areas of atmospheric and geospace sciences
- U.S. citizen or legally admitted permanent resident
- Proposal must be submitted by an individual, not the institution
- Individual must identify a host institution or sponsoring scientist
- May not concurrently submit the same research project to another NSF program
