Beyond Work: Pardee and Community Activities

by Ashliegh Bonina

Caroline Pardee has been remembered mainly for her time spent as the secretary to the president of The University of Akron. However, she was incredibly active in the community at UA and beyond. She was involved in many committees, clubs and organizations that took up her time and that she should also be remembered by. She was a member of The Women’s League, Delta Gamma Sorority, Chi Delta Phi and Le Cercle Francais, to name a few.

Two of the most important organizations that Pardee belonged to was The Women’s League and Chi Delta Phi. The Women’s League was there to help women in need and offer support and services to those who needed it. Chi Delta Phi was a women’s national honorary literary fraternity. The purpose of this group was to write worthy, original material that meets the high standards of literature.

The more that I research Caroline Pardee, the more I discover about her constant devotion to people around her. She had a full time, long lasting career, donated and established several scholarships funds and was a member of countless organizations and clubs. Being involved in these clubs allowed her to help people, take a more active role in her community and stay emerged in the university atmosphere.
