2) What about your non-judicial legal experience qualifies you to be a judge?
I have practiced law for almost 26 years in Trumbull County. My practice has ranged from; prosecution of criminal cases for the City of Warren, and as a contractor for the Trumbull County Public Defenders Office. In my private practice I have been successful in civil, probate, domestic and criminal law. These years of practice have made me keenly aware that a person in court has to be treated with respect, and fairness. No matter what their situation when a person is in court, it is their most important day. Many clients in court, no matter what their case entails has some problem be it alcohol; drugs, mental health, financial, and my diverse practice has made me able to identify and work with clients, and the appropriate professionals to help deal with those problems. I have tried several cases in Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana County and agued before the 11th District Court of Appeals. I am licensed in Federal District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. I understand the Rules of Civil Procedure and Evidence and will be able to apply them and conduct hearings in conformity with said rules, so that the justice will be conducted in a fair, impartial and respectful manner.
(3) Why are you running for this particular court seat?
I am seeking this seat because I believe I can best serve my community with my experience and I can help families and children deal with the problems the confront them regularly. I am committed to Trumbull County Families and want to maintain the integrity of the Judicial System. This above all is tantamount so the citizens have faith the justice system is working with them not against them. I want to expand the use of the Juvenile Drug Court, and implement a medical assisted treatment system where appropriate in the Family Dependency Court docket. I will review and modify if necessary, the Juvenile Detention Alternative Initiative. I will keep the contested divorce cases within the Supreme Court time guidelines by implementing more mediation programs. I will further support the Legal Aid Society’s attempt to gain the Pro Bono Innovation Grant Court Clinic Project. If Implemented this clinic can provide legal assistance to persons who could not otherwise pay for legal services.
