Funding is available for a graduateĀ student (strictly for a student, not for a postdoc or other purposes), starting January 2018. The research subject is effective medium theory (with applications to electromagnetic metamaterials) and a broad array of related issues. Prospective students should haveĀ a background and interest in some combination of applied mathematics, applied physics and engineering. The three-year project is sponsored by the National Science Foundation, Division of Mathematical Sciences. The student must hold at least a Bachelor, and preferably a Master, degree in Engineering, Applied Math or Physics from a reputable institution. Good GRE and TOEFL scores will also be required.
