Hello everyone,

Maker Faire Wayne County is a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness and a celebration of the Maker Movement.  It’s a place where people show what they are making and share what they are learning.  Makers range from tech enthusiasts to crafters to homesteaders to scientists to garage tinkerers.  They are of all ages and backgrounds.  The aim of Maker Faire is to entertain, inform, connect and grow this community.  For a complete list of awesome makers who attended Maker Faire Wayne County click here!

Local Makers

We are proud to showcase Ohio makers who participated in Maker Faire Wayne County 2023.  One of these are members of the Apple Creek Historical Society Makerspace.

They are a collaborative workspace inside the Apple Creek Historical Society for making, learning, exploring, and sharing ideas. The group is well equipped to teach and support people of all ages, skills in woodworking, 3D printing, CNC Laser, and associated computer programs.  They also desire to share their skills and facilities with the community.

The makerspace schedules classes in a variety of subjects to allow people to learn how to operate their equipment and build projects and are always looking for new subjects to teach based on interest.

Another group who participated in Maker Faire Wayne County is YMCA of Wayne County Esports.  Based in Orrville, Ohio, the Esports group is a video gaming group that practices weekly during season and ends with a tournament at the end.  They incorporate a little bit of physical activity, team work, and sportsmanship!

At Maker Faire Wayne County earlier this year, the Esports coaches demonstrated some of the games they do in their leagues and shared information on their next program that happened over the summer as well as opportunities for financial aid to cover the cost of the program.

Rounding out our makers who participated in Maker Faire Wayne County are members of Camp Invention.  For over 30 years, the National Inventors Hall of Fame® inspired millions of children through its flagship summer program, Camp Invention®.

The weeklong program is led by qualified local educators in your community and shows children in grades K-6 how to cultivate the mindset of an innovator.  Each year, their education team works together with inductees to create a brand-new STEM curriculum that embraces hands-on learning.  In their 2023 program, Wonder, campers built confidence and worked together to take on four exciting challenges, exploring innovation, creative problem solving and design thinking, all while developing persistence and having a ton of fun!

Danielle is a teacher at Orrville Elementary School and the director of Camp Invention Orrville.  At Maker Faire earlier this year, she and others demonstrated a mimic bot and other activities that students participated in during Camp. There were free giveaways, too!
