The Sony Research Award Program proposal submission deadline is 11:59 pm PDT on September 15, 2018.

The Institute for Research on Innovation and Science (IRIS) is excited to announce a second round of awards to fund researchers who will use the IRIS data to address questions about the social and economic returns to investments in research. Up to $15,000 for dissertation awards and up to $30,000 for early career and established researcher awards are available.
Applicants do not need to be affiliated with a current IRIS member institution (see the list of IRIS members here: http://iris.isr.umich.edu/iris-members-map/). However, applicants must be currently affiliated with an academic or research institution in the United States. Beyond the financial award, IRIS provides a community for researchers as well as training and ongoing support. Awarded researchers will receive access to the current IRIS research data release files, which are further described here: http://iris.isr.umich.edu/research-data/.

Congratulations to Mrs. Emily Njus who has accepted a promotion to Manager, Pre-Award Research Administration, effective August 1, 2018.
Emily’s connection to UA 
began when she was a child and would come to UA with her late father, Dr. Glen Njus, Biomedical Engineering. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Biology. Her work as a student assistant lead to her position as Research Vivarium Supervisor, and then to Senior Grants Coordinator in the Office of Research Administration. She left UA for Summa Health, where she spent over two years gaining valuable grants administration experience from a non-higher education perspective. As Manager of Pre-Award Administration, Emily hopes to utilize her Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and her other knowledge and skills to help the ORA better serve UA’s researchers.
The NEH Summer Stipend is a limited submission opportunity; as such, faculty members wishing to apply for the program must submit a Notification of Interest to the Office of Research Administration. Notification must be received by ORA no later than 5pm on Friday, August 10, 2017.
