GRADUATE STUDENTS

VivekVivek Krishna Nagarajan, PhD Student
Vivek received his MS in Biomedical Engineering at The University of Akron in 2013 and BE from Manipal Institute of technology in 2010. His research focuses on multifunctional fiber-optic probes based on diffuse reflectance spectroscopy and their applications in cancer detection and treatment monitoring.

Xiangqian HongXiangqian Hong, PhD Student
Xiangqian received his BE in Optoelectronic Engineering and Optical Communication from University of Electronic Science and Technology of China in 2011. He is currently working on near-infrared spectroscopy for monitoring of tumor hypoxia and assessment of wound/burn healing.

 

SohamSoham Mukherjee, PhD Student

Soham is from West Bengal, India. He received his M.Tech from National Institute of Technology Rourkela, India on Biomedical Engineering (2015) and B.Tech from West Bengal University of Technology, India. He wants to pursue a career in academics after his doctoral degree.He likes classical music and soccer and is an ardent supporter of Arsenal FC

UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS

JessicaJessica-Rose Wardley
Jessica has obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Law and Society from Purdue University, and studied patents at Georgetown University. Jessica is currently an undergraduate student in the Biomedical Engineering program specializing in Signals and Systems at the University of Akron. She hopes to learn more about the use of fiber optics in modern medicine, the growth of cancerous tumors, and the use of technology in detecting cancerous cells through her research.

UmaUma Dixit
Uma is currently an undergraduate pursuing a Biomedical Engineering degree in the biomechanics track. Though her parents are from India, she was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. She enjoys various outdoor activities, volunteering, and being creative. After graduation she plans on continuing her education by either attending medical or graduate school.
