This week we ‘closed’ the site. Closing the site can mean many things, depending on the project, and research goals. At the Prather site, we hope to come back, so ‘closing’ the site here meant laying down tarps in the units and then filling the holes back in with all the soil we had excavated out.
We used this method because we plan to come back to the Prather site and continue excavations, so the tarps and soil are keeping the excavated foundation in a stable and preserved state until we come back.
The rest of the week students spent their time preparing for a presentation of their work and findings to SMP staff and members of the Prather family. They worked very hard and delivered a fantastic presentation on Friday.
This group of students thoroughly impressed us in and out of the field this summer, so if anyone is looking for some field techs, I may have a few reccomendations!
