The Department of Defense is offering grants to applicants on a first or second full time tenure track, or tenure track equivalent, who received a Ph.D. in or after January 2014. The DOD’s Office of Naval Research is looking to attract faculty members of Higher Education in science or engineering to support research and education in the United States Navy.

Arcadia: Department of Defense Grant for Biofilm Research

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is awarding grants to all responsible sources capable of providing research on biofilm, bacteria control and microbial community manipulation that will satisfy the United States Government. Experiments related to biofilm manipulation must be conducted in the laboratory as well as in the field to ensure real-world results that will help us understand and render biofilm beneficial to our government and society through for real-world applications.

New Health and Public Safety Workforce Resiliency Training Program

The Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) has designed this grant to fund a program to stimulate solutions to reduce stress, burnout, suicide, mental health and substance use conditions through evidence-based training. HRSA wishes to encourage resiliency among the “Health Workforce”, such as health care students, residents, professionals, paraprofessionals, trainees, public safety officers, etc., specifically in rural and underserved communities.

Small Grants for New Investigators to Promote Diversity in Health-Related Research

The Department of Health and Human Services wishes to support new investigators conduct small research projects that can give insight into topics that will benefit the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) or the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI). This grant is more specifically stated to support investigators that are from diverse backgrounds and may fund different types of projects, such as small, self-contained research, secondary analysis of existing data, development of research methodology, and more.
