USG Successes

The USG Platform is set each year by the President and Vice President of the organization. It is a means of setting principal goals for the organization that address issues on campus. Over the years, we’ve had many platforms that have benefited our campus in a variety of ways.

Addressing Food & Housing Insecurity

  • Continued Support of the Campus Cupboard
  • Participated in the Housing Fair

Supporting Mental Health and Wellness

  • Established the Mental Health Task Force
  • Funded the renewal of Kognito
  • Training members in becoming Mental Health First Aiders
  • Advocated for the implementation of a contract with Impact Solutions
  • The Mental Health Roundtables
  • Therapy Dogs in the Library
  • Destressing Events that occurred before, during, and after finals week

Building and Strengthening the UA Community

  • Helped in New Student Orientation
  • Participated in RooFest and New Roo Weekend
  • Attended the Celebration of Community at Lock 3 Park
  • Created, and filled offices in the RooClusive Space
  • Created the Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Board
  • Created the Diversity and Social Responsibility Group
  • Sponsored events during Diversity Week
  • Sponsored a Pronoun Push
  • Created the Safety Task Force
  • Met with the new Director for Off-Campus Safety and worked closely with administration to identify student safety concerns in and advocate for change
  • Sponsored a candlelight vigil in rememberence of UA student Maya McFetridge
  • Funded $13,500 in Textbook Awards for students in financial need
  • Met and collaborated with Neighborhood Network to help distribute 1,000 porch light bulbs to houses around campus to promote safety
  • Advocated and saw through the return of block to block off campus patrol
  • Collaborated with UAPD to give students tips on how to protect themselves, their homes, and their belongings over winter break.
  • Advocated for the implementation of a new student success platform
  • Collaborated with the Provost’s Office to create the Advising Task Force
  • Funded nearly $57,000 for student and student organization travel, events, and projects
