The Directional Leadership Team
Hello! My name is JP Garchar, and I'm currently a senior majoring in International Business, with a minor in supply chain management and a certificate in Esports Business. Outside of school and USG, I love coffee, golf, and video games! I love advocating, and chatting, so say hi if you spot me on campus. Go Zips!
My name is Miranda Brainard, and I am a sophomore double majoring in Biology and Statistics. I serve as Undergraduate Student Government's Vice President on the platform #ZipsHeartbeat. Outside of USG, I am also involved as a Research Assistant, Learning Assistant, and Orientation Leader, and am a member of Sigma Lambda Honorary, the Williams Honors College and Phi Delta Epsilon. Additionally, I serve on University Council and Faculty Senate. I am passionate about student advocacy and making meaningful change to enhance the experience of UA students. If you have any questions, concerns, or need any sort of support, my email is open!
I'm Dylan Leipold, a sophomore majoring in Business Administration and Political Science. After working as a Senator at Large this past spring, I will be continuing to serve the Undergraduate Student Body in the fall as USG's Chief of Staff. I am looking forward to working with JP and Miranda to build on the pillars of #ZipsHeartBeat - making UA a better place for you and I. I am a highly driven, mission-oriented problem solver, and I hope to add value to this organization through the skills and unique perspective I bring to the table. Go zips!
I am a third year Political Science major with minors in Mathematics and Criminal Justice. After undergrad, I will attend law school as an aspiring labor law professional. I joined this organization last year as a Senator At-Large, and I will be serving as the Senate Chair this year to lead the Legislative Branch and create real change on campus. My main focus for this year will be to push legislation that improves common student experiences such as dining and housing. Outside of student government, I am the VP for the Pre-Law Society and I am a Hearing Officer for the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards
Joining USG last year was one of the best decisions I made. As someone who is already involved on campus as the President of the Environmental Action club, I was able to become even more involved. USG is an outlet for students to make change and advocate for their peers. I feel like this is a way to have a long lasting impact on campus and to create an environment for students to thrive in. Being an advocate for students is the reason I wanted to be a part of USG, and I feel like I am completing that goal by being a leader and working on multiple projects. My favorite part of being a part of this organization is working with likeminded people to accomplish our goals!
Hi fellow Zips! I am Cecilia Mainzer, a Senior Chemical Engineering student minoring in both Mathematics and Polymer Science. Outside of USG, I am the Vice President for the Engineering Student Council, a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, and a Zumba Instructor in the Rec. Currently, I am Co-oping at Goodyear in the Applied Physical Metrology Department, specifically working on abrasive and blowout testing. I am extremely excited to meet new people this year and build a stronger community on campus.
Hi Zips! My name is Olivia, and I’m a junior at the University of Akron majoring in Civil Engineering and minoring in Spanish. Outside of USG, I'm involved in the Williams Honors College as an Honors Delegate. I'm also involved in Engineers for a Sustainable World (ESW), Environmental Action club, and Dean's Team for CEPS. Feel free to reach out and ask me anything!
