These signs will give you the most important details on how to respond efficiently and effectively in the event of an emergency. They cover a number of emergencies such as fire, medical, power outage, hazardous materials, bomb threat, active shooter or violent incident, and tornado.

The University of Akron Emergency Management team’s goal is to integrate emergency planning, response, recovery and mitigation for a number of hazards, both manmade and natural disasters, into the daily operations at the University of Akron. As a Disaster Resistant University, the University of Akron promotes a disaster resistant culture on campus through education, mitigation projects, and well-practiced emergency plans and procedures. By working towards these goals we can feel confident about the continuity of the business of education and research, in the event of emergencies or disasters.

There is one of these signs posted in every classroom, as well as in general areas of the building such as the student lounge and law library.
