Career Planning Presents ….
SAVE THE DATES!!
Wednesday, February 10 at 12:15 and 5:15 p.m. — Basic Resume and Cover Letter Writing and Job Search Timeline– Chris Nolan, partner at Perantinides & Nolan and Barbara Weinzierl, Director of Career Planning, will present tips on what employers look for when they review resumes and how to prepare an effective resume and the basics of a good cover letter. Copies of our new Career Planning handbook will also be available for students at this workshop.
Wednesday, February 17 at 12:15 and 5:15: Presentation on the College Cost Reduction and Access Act (CCRAA). The Career Planning Office is pleased to welcome Anneliese Gryta, Akron Law alum, Equal Justice Works AmeriCorps Legal Fellow, attorney with Legal Aid of Western Ohio and expert on the CCRAA. Ms. Gryta will be at the Law School to discuss the benefits of CCRAA. Come hear her talk and learn about Income Based Repayment (allows students to link federal student loan payments to their income level) and Public Service Loan Forgiveness (complete loan forgiveness of federal student loans after 10 years of full time employment in a public service job).
Tuesday, February 23 at 12:15 in the Student Lounge: The Career Planning Office invites and encourages all students to join the American Bar Association for a lunchtime panel discussion on “Finding a Job in Today’s Economy and What the ABA Can Do for You”. Our featured panelists are:

Kathleen Havener, The Havener Law Firm, LLC

SELS Meeting – Feb. 2, 5:45 pm
The Sports and Entertainment Law Society (SELS) will hold a general meeting for all current and prospective members on Tuesday, February 2, at 5:45 in room L-167.
Are you Akron Law’s best poker player? Prove it on Feb. 12!
The Asian-Latino Law Student Association will be holding a Texas Hold em’ poker tournament to benefit the victims of the Haitian earthquake. Come have a fun time while contributing to a great cause! All proceeds from the event will go to the Red Cross Haiti Relief and Development Fund. The tournament will take place on Friday, February 12, 2010 in the student lounge area from 3:45 p.m. to approximately 5:45 p.m.
The tournament will consist of 30 seats with a buy-in of $10 per participant. Get your seat soon as the event will reach capacity rather quickly! Fabulous prizes include and Ipod Shuffle and much more! Check out ALLSA’s facebook page for more information and also an updated prize list!
