Join the Akron chapters of the A.C.L.U. and The Federalist Society for “Affirmative Action & State Anti-Preference Laws: The Dilemma of Legislating Equal Opportunity Under the Law.” The debate will take place Tuesday, September 20 at 12:30 P.M. in L-165. Chipotle will provide lunch.
Debating the issue will be James Hardiman, guest speaker of the A.C.L.U., and Michael Rosman, guest speaker of The Federalist Society.
James Hardiman is the legal director for A.C.L.U. Ohio, Chair of Citizens for a Safe and Fair Cleveland, and the first vice-president of the Cleveland N.A.A.C.P.
Michael Rosman is general counsel at the Center for Individual Rights. He argued United States v. Morrison before the Supreme Court, has worked on cases such as Grutter v. Bollinger, and Gratz v. Bollinger, and was voted one of the 10 most influential lawyers in 2000 by the National Law Journal.
