Clinical Externship Placement Information

Externship Placements

Individual meetings will be held next week on Wednesday and Thursday (February 22nd and 23rd) for those students interested in pursuing externship opportunities this summer. These unpaid externships with judges, governmental agencies and nonprofit organizations allow students to gain practical experience, network and earn 3 credit hours (requiring 120 hours of work at a placement) or 2 credit hours (requiring 90 hours). These placements are primarily in the Akron area, although a student may arrange for his or her own placement out of state.

The following link is an interactive sign-up that allows students, on the document itself, using the edit icon, to make an appointment for a 20 minute meeting with Professors Spring and/or Rickett to discuss positions available and opportunities that they would like to pursue.

The application form that may be accessed through the icon that follows must be completed and brought to the meeting.

The sign up for these meetings is first come, first served. The first round of placements will be made and priority given to those students who have already met with Professor Spring, those who participate in one of these meetings or make arrangements to meet and apply prior to March 1, 2012.

There will also be informational sessions on this subject at workshops conducted by the Career Planning Office on February 22nd at 12:30 p.m. in Room 152 and 5:15 p.m. in W-215.
