Community Service Opportunity – Valor Home

Serve the Community, Gain New Skills, and Support Your Student Organization

The “Valor Home,” is the first transitional home for veterans and their dependents in Summit County, Ohio.  The $1.5 million, 30-bed facility is a project of Family & Community Services of Portage County, which also operates Freedom House, a shelter for veterans in Kent.  Habitat for Humanity of Summit County offered to recruit volunteers to build interior and exterior walls for Valor Home.  We need your leadership, strength and energy to serve veterans in Summit County!

March we will be building the walls, 20 to 25 volunteers a day at 2301 Romig Road, Akron, OH 44320

April we will be installing the walls, 50 to 75 volunteers a day onsite.

Days: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday      Time: 8:30-4:30

Volunteers should bring a lunch if planning to stay all day. All the tools and materials necessary for the project will be provided.

Volunteers March 10-March 18th will be entered in a drawing to win one of three IPOD Shuffles.
