Judicial Clerkships with the New Jersey Judiciary – Recent Grads and 2013 Graduates Should Apply: The New Jersey Judiciary seeks recent law school graduates to fill approximately 480 one-year judicial clerkships to commence August 26, 2013 and end August 31, 2014. The program is intended for graduates of American Bar Association approved law schools who have not yet significantly engaged in the practice of law. New Jersey Bar membership and New Jersey residency are not requirements. Excellent writing and analytical skills are essential. There are 2 ways to apply: Direct Application and Centralized Electronic Application. Candidates are strongly encouraged to use both methods. To apply directly to individual Justices and Judges, send a cover letter and resume directly to their chambers. You may also include a transcript, writing sample, and/or letters or recommendation. It is highly recommended that applicants apply early (approximately the first week of September 2012). Visit www.njcourts.com/lawclerks for the most up to date information to assist in preparing direct application materials. Effective immediately, you may also email one copy of a cover letter and resume to Lawclerkresumes.mailbox@judiciary.state.nj.us (do not send a writing sample, transcripts or references to this email). Resumes sent to this email will be uploaded to a centralized electronic system for judges to search and review. Again, both methods of applying are recommended. Any questions should be directed to Kimberly B. Douglas, Esq. at (609) 984-9361 or kimberly.douglas@judiciary.state.nj.us. Also, there is additional information in the CPPO.
