- Be the Church service event, which is taking place in Akron and Massillon on Saturday, August 25th – We are still in need of more volunteers, and it is a great opportunity to help out with Akron community organizations. We are helping to run a community picnic for low income families, assisting with clean-up and small household improvement jobs in the Channelwood Housing Project, and hosting a café for newly arrived refugees. If you are interested in volunteering, please let me know ASAP. There is a fee to participate, but it includes a T-shirt and lunch.
- The second opportunity begins in October. We run a one-on-one tutoring program for children in the Channelwood Housing Development on Tuesday evenings. As the program is one-on-one, we do not accept a student until we have a tutor for them, so we always have a waiting list of children in need of tutoring. If you are interested in this opportunity, please let me know, and I will connect you with David Lange, the Director of the program.
Please let me know if I can provide you with any further information or if you wish to volunteer!
