On Tuesday, October 9th from 12:15-1 pm in Room W-214, Robert Kahrl, Akron Law’s own Distinguished Practitioner-in-Residence and Senior Lecturer, will lead a discussion on the recent Apple v. Samsung litigation.
On August 24, 2012 the jury found that Samsung had willfully infringed on Apple’s design and utility patents and had also diluted Apple’s trade dresses related to the iPhone. The jury awarded Apple $1.049 billion in damages and Samsung zero damages in its counter suit. Robert Kahrl practiced law at Jones Day in Cleveland from September 1976 until Dec. 31, 2009, when he retired from the partnership. From 1991 to 2008 he served as practice leader of the Firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Area. He specialized in litigation of cases involving issues of technological complexity.
