Some of you were able to attend the Innocence Tour 2013 program that the Akron Criminal Justice Society co-sponsored two weeks ago. Three exonerees from Ohio’s Death Row spoke about how they came to be wrongly convicted and the achingly grave difficulties of proving their innocence, obtaining their release, and how they are trying to adjust to modern day life after 10 to 26 years of wrongful imprisonment and near execution.
Their stories are compelling viewing, and fortunately, their talk was videotaped. Several of you had missed the talk asked for a link to it – here is the link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfSYIMLOMNc.
If after listening to the talk you wish to learn more, or you want to provide input to the Ohio Supreme Court’s Death Penalty Task Force regarding addressing the issue of wrongful conviction, the co-sponsor of their talk has provided an informative and sample sign-on letter at the link below.
Thank you,
The Akron Criminal Justice Society, Executive Board
