Eligibility Requirements

In order to participate in the scholarship contest, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a pre-law undergraduate or first year law student planning to attend a college or university during the fall 2016 academic year.
  • Must have at least a GPA of 3.0.
  • Must be a US citizen or legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must submit an essay between one and three pages on a topic of choice related to the area of law they hope to practice.
  • Must submit a resume, school transcripts, and an acceptance letter from a US school.
  • Must apply to the contest via our website (http://www.socalpersonalinjurylawyer.com/scholarship-application/) by the deadline of July 1, 2016.
  • A winner will be chosen on or about August 1, 2016.

Constitutional Law Discussion Forum, March 29th

The final Constitutional Law Discussion forum for the semester will be Tuesday, March 29th from noon to 1:00 PM in Plaza B at Quaker Square.  Professor Wilson Huhn will moderate the discussion topic: “The Presidential Election, The Supreme Court, and The Constitution.”  Please come and express your opinions, listen to your colleagues, and debate the critically important constitutional issues that have arisen in this election.  Pizza and soda will be provided!

Various U.S. Locations – 2016 Summer ‘Law Clerk’ Internship – US Air Force JAG
AkronLawJobs No. 7248 Overview: As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience in diverse areas of legal practice while learning more about the Air Force JAG Corps. This is a PAID internship program.
Duties: Will work under attorney supervision in numerous practice areas of the JAG Corps including preparing criminal and civil cases by conducting legal research, writing briefs and opinions, conducting investigations and interviewing witnesses. Assist attorneys who counsel and represent Airmen, their family members and retirees in personal legal matters in areas such as family law, estate planning, landloard-tenant law, tax, bankruptcy, immigration and naturalization law. Will also support attorneys in other areas, such as federal tort claims, government procurement law, employment law, international law, and environmental law.

Social Justice at Akron Law – Monday, March 28th

Upon our return from spring break, join Professor Lee Monday, March 28th at 12:15 PM in Quaker Square Ballroom D to discuss social justice issues. We will have a speaker to present on this week’s issue of eviction and affordable housing. Pizza provided.
