The Equal Justice Works Conference & Career Fair is the largest national public interest career fair and an opportunity for students and recent graduates to participate in both pre-scheduled interviews and networking events with employers from across the country!

In addition to interviewing and networking with employers, attendees will have the opportunity to have their resumes and cover letters reviewed; participate in mock interviews; and attend panels lead by experienced public interest attorneys on international and immigration careers, managing student debt, and how students can organize to fight injustice. We’re thrilled to announce that Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan will serve as our keynote speaker on Friday afternoon!

Duties: Drafting and review of legal documents, including formal notice documents to the Registered Entities regarding enforcement actions, settlement agreements, internal legal memorandums and policy documents. Support Compliance Staff in reviews / audits / investigations of ReliabilityFirst entities where legal consult or intervention may be appropriate. Prepare documents at all stages of the enforcement process. Gather facts and evidence related to compliance enforcement cases. Synthesize technical documents and legal concepts to develop a case and identify the appropriate penalty / sanctions relative to enforcement actions. Ensure enforcement actions adhere to and respect all due process protections of the registered entity from violation identification to final violation resolution. Support effective representation at regional hearing proceedings. Research relevant FERC Orders and NERC Bulletins. Provide legal assessment and analysis in support of the Enforcement decision making process, including, but not limited to, providing sound recommendations. Provide legal research and analysis into legal issues, including matters of first impression and internal legal questions, confronting ReliabilityFirst.

CQE Clinic Volunteer Training – Friday, August 26, 4:30pm – 6pm

Our next free Certificate of Qualification for Employment (CQE) clinic is Saturday, August 27, 2016!  We’re very excited to be providing opportunities for ex-offenders in Summit County to take a step toward gaining employment and independence!

We are looking for students to volunteer from 8:00am-12:45pm on Saturday, August 27, 2016.  The clinic will be held at the House of the Lord [1650 Diagonal Rd, Akron, OH 44320]. The time you volunteer can be applied toward your graduation requirement as pro bono limited means hours.

There will be a mandatory volunteer training on Friday, August 26, 2016 from 4:30-6:00pm for first timers. The time you are at training will count towards your pro bono limited means hours as well. For those who have completed the training once before, you are more than welcome to attend the training for a refresher. However, you may not count the training towards your pro bono limited means hours again.
