Duties: Hands-on experience with clients and the court. Will be responsible for the coordination of student volunteers who want to help conduct interviews for pro bono hours. Will be required to interview juvenile clients and obtain information that will help prepare the supervising attorney for morning preliminary detention hearings.
Qualifications: 2L, 3L

*Expungement Clinic Seeking Student Volunteers*
The Expungement Clinic helps low-income Summit County residents seal the record of their criminal convictions. A sealed record enables many people better access to jobs, housing, and volunteer opportunities. Students will learn integral skills in the legal field including filing paperwork with the court, drafting motions, interviewing real clients, and communicating with clients both through the mail and over the phone. Students who are eligible for a legal intern certificate will have ample opportunities to appear in court and present an oral argument.
A student commitment to the Expungement Clinic can be for as few or as many hours as the student pleases. We do ask that you commit to at least one of our upcoming Saturday Outreach Clinics so we know how many volunteers we will have at each clinic.

Location: Goodyear Auditorium, Room 229 in the Polymer Building (the glass building just east of the law school)
Who should attend: All students planning to take the Ohio Bar if you have not attended this lecture yet
The one-hour Substance Abuse Lecture is required if you plan to take the Ohio Bar at any time in the future. You may attend this lecture during any semester you are in law school, and we will verify your attendance with the Supreme Court of Ohio when you graduate from law school. You will definitely want to make this lecture, particularly if you are planning to graduate in Fall 2016 or Spring 2017 and you have not yet attended one.
