Pro Bono Limited Means Opportunity with Community Legal Aid (Akron)

The Volunteer Legal Services Program (VLSP) at Community Legal Aid is seeking a law student who is interested in volunteering with our Pro Se Family law program as well as our Hot-Docs project in Spring 2018. Our office is closed for the Holiday break from December 22nd until January 1st so we would anticipate a commencement date of sometime in middle to late January.  The law student will be focused on strengthening and expanding our Pro Se Family law program by reviewing and updating client packets, updating information concerning court contacts, procedures and resources and incorporating the use of Hot Docs to streamline the clinic process.  We are asking for a commitment of 3-6 hours a week.  Our offices are open Monday through Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate evening or weekend volunteering.

LexisNexis

  • Access: Winter graduates have access to Lexis Advance via their law school IDs through July 31, 2018. This ID also grants  access to the Graduate Home Page (detailed below).
  • LexisNexis Rewards Point Expiration: Winter graduates have until January 31, 2018 to redeem their LexisNexis Rewards points.
  • Graduate Home Page: In February, the winter graduates’ view of the Law School Home Page will switch from the current view to the graduate view. This new view will provide helpful information for your career and job search. It will also award you a graduation gift of your choice of several LexisNexis products.

You have access to Thomson Reuters products, including Westlaw and Practical Law, for six-months after graduation. Your “Grad Elite” access gives you 60-hours of usage on Westlaw per-month to gain understanding and build confidence in your research skills. While you cannot use it in situations where you are billing a client, Thomson Reuters encourages you to use these tools to build your knowledge of the law and prepare for your bar exam.

In addition, you get access to job searching databases on Westlaw and TWEN for 18-months after graduation for 1-hour a month. Extend access by logging into www.lawschool.westlaw.com
