Cincinnati, OH – Appellate Legal Intern #18-02 – The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit

Duties: The position will begin May 2018 and end August 2018, depending on the student’s school calendar. The position may extend for part-time during the fall and spring semesters, ending in May 2019. Conducts research; reviews case records and filings; drafts proposed memoranda and orders; and provides assistance to court executives, court attorneys, and court staff. Perform initial procedural review of incoming appeals, motions, and petitions; performs research and analysis and communicate results to executives, managers, and court attorneys orally and in writing, draft memoranda and proposed orders; draft correspondence to attorneys, pro se litigants, and the public; provide assistance to motions attorneys with emergency motions; and proofread, edit, and cite check various orders, correspondence, and memoranda.
Qualifications: 2L (must have completed two full years of law school by the end of spring 2018 semester). Strong research and writing skills; possess the ability to work under varying time constraints, possess excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, present a professional image and demeanor, and exercise appropriate discretion in dealing with confidential information. Salary: $29.32 to $33.90 per hour (CL 28 steps 1-16). Salary commensurate with qualifications in accordance with U.S. Court Guidelines.
