SBA Public Interest Auction is this Friday

Please join us this Friday, April 6th for our annual Public Interest Auction. The night will include live and silent auctions, a cash bar, a live jazz band, trivia, bingo and more! Canned Immunity is Back!

Hello everyone, its that time of year again! Women’s Law Association and Animal Legal Defense will be tabling for Canned Immunity from  April 2nd through April 6th at  12:15 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. Canned Immunity is where you either donate specific items or give $2 for a ticket or 3 tickets for $5, so that you will not be called on in class. We are donating to One of a Kind Pet Rescue and a battered women’s shelter.

Supplies donated will go to the pet rescue and money donated will go to the battered women’s shelter.

Law Library Reference Position for Law Students

Law Library Position for Law Students – apply today!

This position is open to any student that has completed LARW I and II by the end of Spring semester 2018.  Deadline is Tuesday, April 17, 2018.

The Law Library seeks to hire one law student as a Reference Associate starting Summer Semester 2018.

The Law Library Reference Associate must be able to work an average of 15 hours per week during the summer.  (If the student would like to continue employment into the Fall, the student should be available for an average of  7.5-10 hours per week and must be available to work one weekday evening (specifically Monday or Tuesday or Wednesday) between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.)  A permanent weekly schedule will be set up at the beginning of each semester.  Once the semester schedule is established, the Law Library Associate is responsible for the hours assigned to them.

The Law Library Associate will be compensated $10/hour. The Law Library Associate is supervised by a dual-degreed librarian (JD, MLS) who will provide reference training.

Duties include providing informational, directional, reference and research assistance to Law Library patrons.  The Associate will also have circulation duties include answering the phone, answering directional questions, and checking out library materials.  The Law Library Associate will also assist the reference librarians with teaching functions, faculty research projects, creation and maintenance of online library guides, and other projects.

Qualifications: Applicants must have completed LARW I and II by the end of Spring semester 2018.

Moot Court Honor Society Tryout: April 14, 2018

On Saturday, April 14, beginning at 9:00am in Room 240, Moot Court Honor Society will be holding tryouts for 2018-2019. Students interested in trying out are asked to prepare a seven-minute oral argument based on a short fact pattern that will be provided. Students are also asked to submit a three-page section of the Law & Argument portion of their LARW II briefs as a writing sample. First-year students currently enrolled in LARW II are asked to submit a three-page section of the Law & Argument portion of his or her most recent draft.

The time slots for tryouts will be determined based on the order of registration. Each student’s specific tryout time and the fact pattern will be provided in response to the registration email.
