This position provides an opportunity for entry-level attorneys to practice law in a leading governmental environmental organization, and to receive extensive training in and exposure to environmental law and policy work in the public sector. Region 5 offers new attorneys significant responsibility, the opportunity to handle a varied caseload that includes enforcement and counseling work, and extensive training and mentoring from dedicated colleagues with recognized expertise. Qualifications: JD and a member in good standing of the bar OR 2018 JD graduate with bar membership pending. Recent graduate with excellent written and oral communication skills, a strong interest in public service and the mission of the EPA. Strong preference for the applicant to be able to start in the fall of 2018. Must be a U.S. citizen. If you qualify for veterans preference and want the Agency to consider that preference, you must provide your DD214 (copy 4), your VA letter, or Standard Form 15 (disabled veteran).
Pay and Benefits: During the first year, salary will be at the GS-11 level (currently starting at $67,638 per year). Judicial clerks may be hired at the GS-12 grade (currently starting at $81,071). Promotion potential is up to the GS-14 level (currently starting at $113,920). Relocation expenses are not authorized.
